At this point, I feel like we underestimate Marvel at our own peril.

AVATAR 3 opening on 12/22/23 instead of 12/15 seems telling that Disney believes THE LAST JEDI opened a little too early to get a maximum holiday boost.

I hope ENDGAME either falls 10% tomorrow or 35%, just because the forum’s reaction would be wonderful either way.

and I don't think any non-Disney film is beating CM this year.
Not even HELLBOY?

But a 145M can not make it pass 2.2B at the end of this week
So it's only going to make $2.1B after 12 days of international release? Jesus, this is SOLO all over again.

AVATAR’s toast but I think FORCE AWAKENS is (sorta) safe.
Which, weirdly, I think works in Disney’s favor - tangible proof that the Mouse controls the two biggest franchises in movie history.

It’s important to remember that the bigger a movie opens, the harder it is to maintain audience, even if it’s beloved.
ENDGAME crushed the opening weekend record, making it exponentially harder to keep up with lower-grossing films on a percentage basis.

This is awesome.
Also a little bit sad. Is this the last time a massive box office benchmark is surpassed domestically and not in China?

Three of my favorite MCU scenes of all time happen in the third act of ULTRON.

I'll be the hot taker and say Age of Ultron and IW are way better then Endgame.
I disagree but I support any and all AGE OF ULTRON love.

This was the first movie I've ever seen that got a genuine standing ovation.

Yes. Imagine people being able to form opinions of their own without needing to dwell on it for periods at a time.
Respectfully, it seems less like forming an opinion of your own and more like confirming a wish you had walking it.

Just got out and not only did End Game overtake The Dark Knight as my favorite CBM of all time, I think it just became my favorite movie of all time.
Kevin Feige and The Russo Brothers really did that.
Oh, to be able to know something is my favorite movie of all time five minutes after seeing it.

Thinking of seeing a movie tonight. Is ALITA still playing? I really want to stick it to Disney.

I replied with the same style he replied to me, don’t care about his comps which are wrong anyway.
You realize you're throwing a temper tantrum because you don't like what his comps (maybe) indicate, right?

So I guess maybe we should curb expectations a bit, but it could just be a case with so much demand already filled out in the days before, there's just not enough supply left. So I'm gonna be optimistic and say 300M is still alive.
Not gonna bother with the backlog of other data. It's just too much.
This is exceptional. Thanks.
I still think ENDGAME's going to come back to earth a little bit - that at least a decent chunk of the crazy pre-sales are because of people needing to see it faster, not new audiences jumping on for the ride. And that's going to be annoying because if it makes $285M, pasting the previous record, people here are just going to shrug because it isn't $300M.

I have not really seen a GOT effect really here in Canada
however i remember RTH saying during Ultron that the Boxing fight caused no negative effect in Canada for Saturday.
so... 😶
It could also be an isolated case - he wouldn't tell me if he's basing that on his own theater or on company information available to him. But I figured it was worth mentioning before the fun starts in a couple hours!

Yes, but everyone around here seems to think its going to have the legs to prevent any such drop-offs

A friend of mine is the manager at one of the big Los Angeles theaters and he's cautioned me that ENDGAME's Sunday numbers are lagging quite a bit behind INFINITY WAR's for the same day.
I thought he was fucking with me, but he says he's serious.

I like the FAST & FURIOUS movies but this just looks like the stupidity of FATE OF THE FURIOUS on overdrive. The trailer actively annoyed me the longer it played.
