so worth seeing, then?
Yeah. It's not great but it's solid, with some genuinely scary moments.

Rebecca Ferguson is great in this.

btw the whole "unnecessary" complaint is dumb. Like 1% or less of movies could be considered "necessary" lmao
Deep, bro.
Toy Story 4 can’t shake a feeling of being redundant. And when it aims for the tears, there’s a distinct feeling of “This stung more last time”. It’s the nature of sequels.
-
I liked this a lot but also think it’s the weakest TOY STORY sequel. It never really justifies “breaking open” TS3’s ending.
But still very funny and very sweet and a really good movie.

Seated for this now. Let’s see how much of a blubbery mess I am in two hours.

TOY STORY 4 has been screening in L.A. for over a week, and there's another big screening tomorrow night. Not being at the premiere doesn't mean all that much, this isn't AVENGERS or STAR WARS where the movie is locked down for as long as possible.

You're gonna know the second the movie starts floating a certain idea.

Why do people want to shoehorn characters being gay into everything again?
You want a character to be gay, fine. But have it be an original character who's not already established from a previous movie and not shoehorn an orientation in to push a "representation" agenda when gay people are only 4% of the population when people want to push it and act like its 20%.
Like a character for their actual character, don't just say "I just like this character because they're gay for no reason".
So you agree then that 1/25 fictional characters should totally be gay and anything less than that is bullshit?

Plenty, but once they saw the movie no one cared b/c it was great.
Yep. They tried the same trick on IRON MAN 2 to... less pleasing results.

So PG-13?
Yes, a harder one than I was expecting.

They're played by doubles who will be digitally aged to look like Linda, Edward, and Arnold. (It's actually Linda's voice, though.)
Only one shot was finished, with Sarah looking over her shoulder at the ocean - it looked good, if a little digital in that normal de-aging way.

I try to make outlines of screened films to compare them to the final cut, just to track reshoots and the like. I'm posting this single paragraph from the outline because, as a geek, this woulda intrigued the fuck outta me.
Some spoilers about the current future status quo, but generally I find this bit more intriguing than super spoilery.
SpoilerDriving scene. Sarah quizzes Grace about the future. They don’t have Skynet, they have Legion, a defense system (Sarah laughs at it all happening again). Governments tried to fry Legion with EMPs and Legion responded with nukes. Grace asks again why Sarah was on that bridge. Sarah says she occasionally receives encrypted text messages, many times years apart. The messages have coordinates. When she follows the coordinates, she finds a Skynet Terminator. Sarah then proceeds to kill the Terminator, every time. Every encrypted message is signed “For John.”

Cameron has a story credit on DARK FATE, which is honestly more than I expected. I thought he was firmly in John Carpenter/HALLOWEEN mode of "Sure, whatever, use my name."

Meanwhile there is a legit Halloween II and it is brilliant.
Can I borrow your personal copy of HALLOWEEN II? The one I have is a lazy slog that coasts on looking like the first movie.

This movie has the balls to ignore every sequel and position itself as the “true” sequel but looks way worse than most of them. At least T3 and Salvation didn’t look like Sci Fi Channel originals
T3 looks pretty awful.
(I like T3, but the photography looks cheap.)

ENDGAME will end up making around half a billion dollars domestically after opening weekend.
Spinning that as bad or disappointing is either fanboy-motivated or insane.

Last I heard was the story centered on Jigsaw sometime between Saw and Saw II - he was the main character - but that was jettisoned in favor of the Chris Rock version.
