Let's actually see how many films have a chance of grossing more than 100 million $ domestically, to begin with. These are my estimates:
1. "Bad Boys For Life" - 165 million $
2. "Birds Of Prey" - 140 million $
3. "Onward" - 200-250 million $
4. "A Quiet Place 2" - 120-140 million $
5. "Mulan" - 100-150 million $
6. "The New Mutants" - 120-150 million $
7. "No Time To Die" - 200-250 million $
8. "Antebellum" - 100-120 million $
9. "Black Widow" - 300-350 million $
10. "Fast & Furious 9" - 170-200 million $
11. "Wonder Woman 1984" - 350-400 million $
12. "Soul" - 100-150 million $
13. "Top Gun: Maverick" - 120-140 million $
14. "Free Guy" - 100 million $
15. "Minions 2" - 130-150 million $
16. "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" - 120-140 million $
17. "Tenet" - 170-200 million $
18. "Jungle Cruise" - 130-150 million $
19. "The Conjuring 3" - 100-120 million $
20. "The King's Man" - 100-120 million $
21. "Untitled Marvel/Sony Sequel" (October 2nd) - 150-300 million $
22. "The Death On Nile" - 100-120 million $
23. "Halloween Kills" - 100-110 million $
24. "Eternals" - 350-400 million $
25. "Godzilla vs. Kong" - 100 million $
26. "Raya And The Last Dragon" - 130-160 million $
27. "Gigantic" - 100-150 million $
28. "Dune" - 100-120 million $
29. "Coming 2 America" - 100 million $
30. "West Side Story" - 100-130 million $
31. "The Croods 2" - 130-150 million $
I may have missed something, and there'll surely be 1-3 award season films that will manage to pull 100ish million, but this is all based on the calendar which is available now.
-
I think this one should easily top 200 million $.

-
My final projection for domestic box office is close to 42 million $ when it's all said and done, with further expansion and awards hype.

I wonder if they are going to further expand this in 1000+ theaters.
-
I think the real snub for Bombshell is Kidman. I know everyone talks about Robbie, but she has already showed the maximum she can act, and it's not bad, but way under the level of Theron and Kidman.

I am very interested to see how this one plays in other markets than US and UK. I think 150 million $ domestically is a given, but I'm going to keep my predictions conservative for overseas, anywhere from 150-180 million $.

Nope. Pitt, Pesci, Pacino and Song Kang-ho are lock nominees. Fifth spot is either Hanks, Dafoe or Hopkins.

I doubt it, but I wouldn't be surprised. Over the last ten years that situation of being nominated for Best Picture and just one other thing happened five times:
1. "The Post" - Best Picture, Best Actress In A Leading Role
2. "Selma" - Best Picture, Best Original Song
3. "Extremely Loud, and Incredibly Close" - Best Picture, Best Actor In A Supporting Role
4. "A Serious Man" - Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay
5. "The Blind Side" - Best Picture, Best Actress In A Leading Role
I can see "Ford v Ferrari" getting a nomination instead.

-
I would say Oscar nomination for screenplay is a lock now.

-
I'm gonna say this will open closer to 30 million $ next weekend.
-
Let's do a hypothetical weekend breakdown:
7. 5.7 million $ / 139.4 million $
8. 3.8 million $ / 145.5 million $
9. 2.6 million $ / 149.7 million $
10. 1.8 million $ / 152.5 million $
11. 1.3 million $ / 154.5 million $
12. 0.8 million $ / 155.8 million $
13. 0.5 million $ / 156.6 million $
14. 0.3 million $ / 157.1 million $
15. 0.2 million $ / 157.4 million $
-
160 million $ is too much...

That's interesting since the number of screens almost doubled on Fandango in LA county.
