they set up these characters and gave them nowhere to go. The somber ending with that 'once your in, you're in for life' message was non-climatic. they were likable characters. I needed to know about the card that houses a gun making template before I wonder how he knew what it would make. I wonder how the walls are plaster not concrete in those old buildings, and how the escape hall connects to the entrance foyer. If only the cop were her estranged daughter the circle of bleh would be complete. Still a fun ride for the first half.

This film followed all the makings of a good caper film. It even had a photo on George Clooney in the film. the twists during the event were well paced and kept me involved then the film (trying too hard) took a pair of misdirections. First they introduce a character that must have been in the original films, that art investigator. I don't care about him so why do I need to know him? He's clever but not menacing so the team are only in danger if they want it. The film makers that is, and they are now playing with me so I am less engaged. I know a good actress knows bad acting, and she did figure it out, but why would she join in? making friends isn't enough. She needs to want to buck the system. And I don't care about the ex boyfriend, so the revenge thing, while needed in an Ocean's film, doesn't fit. Now we spend even more time getting to see them sleep with him and plant evidence and I've already become detached from this growing calamity of misdirection. (punn intended) the film was light and fun and my mom enjoyed it. She too asked who was that boyfriend after we left the theater. sigh..

the secret is out, this isn't that scary. Sure it is a thriller more than a horror film, and there is a ghost / supernatural element to this film. It doesn't scare because it is predictable. I knew that Joan/Joann was a cult member and after I knew, we see the door mats. The film did surprise me twice. I thought the kids tree house would drop on daddy after he walks out on his crazy family, but he magically caught on fire. And there was all the nudists in the end. I did not need / expect that. Kudos to the film makers for that surprise ending. I'm ashamed to be a man, Performances were nice, although the ads told me the young girl would be a leading star. Her ghost had less screen time than she did. The devil must work in strange and mysterious ways. to prove my point, three teens snuck into the theater after the girl lost her head in the car. They were bored and un-involved and left a few minutes later. They learned not to fall into peer pressure to see cool R rated films about teens because this one bored them. True they missed the bird and the bees, but the film must have felt like home, with bickering at the dinner table and all. And that boy just left her body in the back of the car for mommie to find? Not pretending an animal did it, or leaving the window broken like a burglar did it? and they didn't put him into a treatment center? How convenient. This film just didn't work for me. Sorry.
