Again, two days of headlines. And a minor difference in numbers won’t make people magically think the movie is an epic failure or whatever
Oh really?

As someone who has a club based around Strange doing at least 200 mil, the swing I've seen from "it probably won't make it" to " it will make it and it's a disappointment" is nuts. I don't think anyone realistically thought this would do No Way Home numbers
Let's be real, the same people would find the numbers "disappointing" no matter what they ended up being. I remember people calling NWH a disappointment and saying it was secretly hated by the GA after its second weekend.

Gotg2 had quite a nice ow bump, TWS too. TA was in between for TWS but not much avengers affect to speak of for gotg. Their best OW sequel increase fueled by massive 1st entry goodwill rather than any crossover value added elements.
Not to mention the $357m elephant in the room.

It worries me how it leaks so easy everywhere. Am I going to be able to watch Avatar 2 in 4k before I can even watch it in Cinema???
Maybe, but why would you want to?

I think I know who marvel is thinking for Dr. doom. Guy can do anger, action, drama and lame stuff too. Not going to reveal, but he was in a movie recently and his ferocity impressed everyone. With some nuance added, he could kill it as Doom.
The V?

So... are we counting this as the horror OW record?

Really? There were audible gasps at the first shot in my showing. Only trailer that got a bigger reaction was Thor (understandable given the crowd).
Also, I heard a younger family call it "the movie from the ride."

If you have Disney+, they release a video called “Marvel Legends” which catches you up for upcoming projects. The Doctor Strange, Wong, and Wanda ones were just added. The Doctor Strange one is quite good.

I def think No Way Home's performance was a pleasant shock that injected some life into the industry again, especially with it happening in the middle of a virus wave. You can still lament the blockbuster-driven nature of the industry I guess but the bottom line is it really needed that to promote some stability in the release schedule. Personally I'm just gonna appreciate being able to keep seeing the smaller budget stuff in theaters however much money it makes.
Reminds me of this.

We have not had a true mega smash breakout since JURASSIC WORLD in summer 2015. There are so few surprises. We are overdue for a new era, but not sure what it will be.
If you're counting Jurassic World, then Black Panther should qualify.

I forgot it’s attached to Dr. Strange. Kinda wanna go to a 3D showtime now
I'm watching Strange in 3D for this so it better be attached.

Yeah 200m seems absolutely insane to me coming off of Doctor Strange 1, but then again I was thinking like 150m for Spider-Man before pre-sales so what do I know?

So who won? Guessing some big upset from the page count.
Nah. Nobody cares who won. Will Smith got on stage and slapped somebody. Reading through this thread, I couldn't even tell who won half of the awards as people were only talking about the slap.

NWH had a disappointing 1st Tues as well as I recall. Tuesday are just tough to interpret in this marketplace, wed/mon is what really matters.
Funny to read in retrospect.

So much for those Oscars
The fact that no one even knew what you were talking about shows just how invisible this Oscar season is. No one is talking about it. A lot of that is due to no GG, but it’s crazy just how far they have fallen in the past few years.

As an American, let us be clear that no part of the US will follow. Europe will probably to some extent.
I could see New York and California.

Yeah but this isn't his gut take but a data based take. And considering how Saturdays have been this year with families still a bit depressed, it's hardly inconceivable.
Yeah I trust Charlie's judgment, but I will hope Marvel Saturday shocks us again.
