Yea, but it's not just one person feeling this way.....it's me and my friends and probably plenty of others. Look, if Spielberg is being greedy and asking for too much then I get why Disney is saying no thanks but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Spielberg is just as much a reason to see an Indy movie as Ford is. My excitement for this is really taken a hit now that he is out.
But Spielberg got so much shit by a bunch of idiots after that last movie that he probably thinks he's too old to deal with all the toxic fanboys when the movie doesn't live up to their unrealistic expectations. I wouldn't bother either if i was him

It's not going to help at all if we're still dealing with Covid-19 issues 20 months from now and people are holed up in their homes. The entire movie industry will be on its knees.

This is simply not true.
Every role is evaluable on the requirements of that role. If anything makes something more impressive or impactful it's dexterity of thought - which is down to the individual actor and how they work with the director, not the genre.
In addition to this, subtlety is not inherently better than boldness. Manchester by the Sea and Fences are two movies that due to the cultural backgrounds of the characters require performances to be delivered at differing scales - both feature outstanding performances - one is not inherently better than the other just because the characters in MBTS are more prone to hiding certain emotions.
Moss is as good in this film when she is proud of having got to the end of the street to pick up the post as she is when emoting heavily due to the stresses of the major action.
Horror is rammed with some of the best performances of the last 5 years. And of all time.
But acting frightened is just one of the basics. It seems everyone is jumping the gun because they like this actress, everyone seemed to be praising her before the film was released. Personally i was more impressed with the horror in Tom Hanks' face at the end of Captain Phillips than I was with the main actress in films like US or Hereditary.
You can say it's not true but it's just my opinion and I'm not seeing many oscar nominations for these movies so I'm clearly not alone here.

Performances in a horror are not subtle so really not as impressive or impactful as an actor nailing a drama.

How does this compare to Snatch and Lock Stock?

How does a virus have a "woke aspect" lmao
Maybe governments don't want to do everything in their power to contain a virus as it may go against some people's human rights.

Wan can adventurous, over the top action better than Mangold so nah.
Honestly forget even Wan, get this one to be directed by Gore Verbinski. He does a great job at capturing the Spielbergian tone too and his action sequences are bonkers in the best way possible.
Gore Verbinski sounds perfect

Ready Player One just made over half a billion dollars a bit less than two years ago. Tintin was also also an extremely fun ride. The last time Mangold made a proper PG-13 blockbuster movie was The Wolverine which was an absolute bore.
RPO I admit was more fun than I expected but TinTin? No

are you butthurt ? i just prefer mangold as a choice ,jesus
Yeah Spielberg hasn't made a great crowd pleasing blockbuster in years. I like Mangold as a choice. Spielberg should make more movies like Bridge of Spies

Yes, because the only reason anyone ever gives for saying why they’re interested in a film or not is to stick it to the big corporation.
This totally isn’t a forum meant to discuss films and why or why you don’t care to see them
A little sarcasm didn't hurt anyone

The Irishman hands down
How can it get better reviews than Wolf of Wall Street is beyond me. Seemed like a movie they ccouldn't be bothered to cut as they knew it was going straight to Netflix

Personally I think Zack Snyder is actually very talented on a technically side, he just can't be trusted to add any narrative ideas to his films. Working with Disney would be good for him as they tend to micro-direct their movies. I'd be interest to see another Zack Snyder blockbuster with a good screenplay and him kept on a tight leash

I'm so glad they are having a host and that it's Gervais. I can't stand the host-less shows. It's just stupid to not have someone presiding over it and opening it up and keeping it entertaining otherwise...what's the point of it being on tv?
This. It baffles me how people think having Ricky is a bad thing. He made the shows funny and memorable

Not really. Black Panther - a more acclaimed movie than the taxi driver rip-off Joker - was was nominated for all major awards and they still kept mentioning the sequel (even during their SAG acceptance speech).
Also LOL at comparing Joker a measly 1 billion grosser to the global event that was LOTR.
Ok so this guy is an example of a blatant fanboy

That's the problem when your $1 billion+ movie is winning major awards.
Hard to blame them for not knowing how to handle popular and awards success at the same time, that is a situation almost unheard of since LOTR.
Is it unheard of? Avatar, Black Panther and BR were in the same boat. If they have to choose between popularity and a golden statue, popularity should win every time.

I'm talking about BO, personal opinion about the movie is not the point here.
And yes, I reaffirm that everyone who is downplaying Joker's success here is Disney or Marvel (or both) fans and that includes Jet Jedi, john2000, Chucky, let's be honest.
I spent just as much time on this forum downplaying Endgame's performance when people claimed it was more impressive than Avatar's so that argument holds little weight. It's also fine to disagree with posts if we feel people are over exaggerating just how shocking it's success really is.

Some of the greatest movies of all time are sequels, like Back to the Future 2, The Dark Knight, Terminator 2 - Judgment Day, Batman v Superman, The Godfather 2.
Oh come on mate, we all know Godfather 2 should not be on that list.

It's a double edged sword, had it not well they'd have been on the hook for bigger potential losses, it's the same as Lionsgate selling the OS distribution rights to their films, they reduce their risk but get less profit if a film is a huge hit.
But surely if you know your film features the most iconic villain in the biggest genre in cinema right now and it's going to be made for a tiny budget of 50m you'd think they would take the risk and finance the whole movie? I don't know how financing works but maybe they have to co-finance all their films to maintain a healthy relationship with other companies? If they just pick and choose every film maybe it would rub the other suppliers the wrong way knowing how much profit they are missing out on.

This news about WB developing a sequel to Joker is extremely disappointing. Why can’t anything be allowed to stand on its own anymore? It’s only a matter of time before we get a Batman 4.
If you were in charge of a multi billion dollar company would you let Joker stand on it own? Or maximise profits?

Civil War was a Captain America v Iron Man movie, with almost all the Avengers in it as well. It made less than Iron Man 3.
Because IM3 came off the success and hype of the first Avengers movie where-as Civil War came out after the disappointing Age of Ultron. Civil War turning things around was a bigger shock to me than the Jokers performance today.

People complaining about the Aliens made me laugh. Reincarnation and ghost spirits in a box is fine but aliens is where people drew the line? It got the most stick for that despite being more realistic than the others
