I think this new release date is better.

Yesterday, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and the Irish government announced all travel restrictions within Ireland will be lifted on June 29th, and have shortened the gradual reopening of the country from 5 phases to 4, as a result of the decline in the number of new cases per day and the decline in deaths from COVID-19 per day (it's only within the past few days that we reached 25,000 confirmed cases).

While I'm not an expert, it does sound to me that there is a chance that filming could restart by August, if not mid-July, so long as appropriate measures are taken.
Looking like it.

Okay, I've checked what the different phases for reopening Ireland are, and it seems to me that the earliest this could restart filming is in July (phase 3 starts 29 June), though I imagine the more realistic date for filming to resume would be in August after phase 5 is announced (10 August).
Either seems likely. Though I'm leaning with the more conservative estimate.

Trailer in a little over 3 hours!

Could Tenet take its slot should it get delayed?

Exceeded my expectations by a lot. Preferred Toy Story 4 to this but every moment in this movie is earned and the ending is extremely heartwarming (and also unconventional which is a pattern in Scanlon's movies). Clearly a personal movie for Dan Scanlon too. It's mid-tier Pixar but that's a 9/10 for me.
It's a damn shame that this movie ended up being the biggest box office casualty of the whole Coronavirus shitshow. Granted, it was never going to be a HUGE hit, but it definitely deserved better than it got.
Hopefully, it'll find a second life on streaming.

I'm assuming they will be showing new releases in May. I think this could have made decent money there if it got a proper release.
And again, I say they it's too early to say whether or not they could know that would be possible.

I feel like this could have made a a lot of money in China (more than Soul will end up making) if they hadn't done this.
How so? China isn't showing any new releases despite re-opening.

If Soul moves to November, this is getting delayed.

It'll be decades before any year replaces 2020 as the worst in recent box office history.

Random, but when do you think they'll drop the first trailer?

Yeah seeing Bond move was huge, this outbreak is probably gonna hurt the box office this year sadly. I don't see a 200 Million Domestic Grosser for a while either. "Black Widow" on paper should do it but we don't know how far this outbreak will go. As of right now "Bad Boys For Life" is the Highest Grossing Film of 2020 Domestically and Worldwide. Sonic might of gotten the last bit of boost before the outbreak because more people will be avoid public places if this increases.
Highest grossing until May (pending the outbreak.)

Hope that the disease doesn't hit this one TOO hard.

I do think people are slightly overreacting. No Time to Die moving does not mean every film will be delayed.
Maybe not a guarantee that other big releases will move, but it could be the start of something.

didn't know about Black Hawke Down. Thanks.
Yep. It was given a limited release in December 2001 before going nationwide in January 2002.

I'm surprised they are putting this in limited first. It's something that works for arthouse but I guess that Revenant and 1917 proved that it works for big movies too.
It also worked well for The Revenant and Black Hawk Down, another Ridley Scott film.

Agreed. But we don't know what's the level of accessibility here either. Going by the synopsis, this isn't going to be very action oriented. if it's more of a procedural with one or two fights tops, that's not gonna fly. If Kingdom of Heaven with some epic action sequences couldn't put butts in seats...
Kingdom of Heaven came out during the competitive summer season, two weeks before Revenge of the Sith. This should at least have better legs during the Holiday season. If early word of mouth from limited screenings are stong, it could do very well once it expends in January.

I'm getting Silence vibe. people overpredicting cause of names involved and no other reason. Maybe Silence isn't a good example cause that was ultra unaccessible and neither for critics nor the audience. But I think you get my point. names aren't be all and end all of awards.
Silence is not very accessible to mainstream audiences.

Midsommar has an 82% score, it can easily stay above it.
And I'll be glad if it isn't anything like US.
I loved US to pieces.
