Eh, the UK is one of the worst markets for manga as well. It just doesn't seem very popular.
Indeed. More than anything else I'm surprised by anime films usually grossing so little in France, considering that manga sales in the country are higher than those in USA, Canada, UK and Australia combined...

Despite the opening weekend in China the international gross is still lower than the Usa/Canada one, at this point I think it will end up like the predecessors and gross 50/55% domestic and 45/50% rest of the world. The possible targets of 900M, 873M (Batman v Superman) and 850M unfortunately are all out of reach

Lol 🤣
And the English dub unfortunately isn't the only one with problems, I still have nightmares about the "Italian" dubbing of the third season of Black Lagoon, inexplicably voiced by some amateur French dubbers with strong accent and no talent... But the worst thing is that the first two seasons were perfect 😭

A 50-50 split with 400m DOM would be at least 800m WW not 700m..
Who said 700M? But yeah I really hope that despite the poor result in China the overseas gross will manage to beat the Usa/Canada one, given that for Batman films it rarely happens and it looks like it will be a close call

After the last update by BoxOfficeMojo Encanto has finally exceeded the 250M worldwide, 96M in USA/Canada and 154M in the rest of the world (the thread title should probably be updated)

@Issac Newton whats your opinion for this anime ? is it worth checking out ? . Now that demon slayer finished (for now) i am searching for new content.
If you like anime with battles, strange powers etc but you get tired of demons, I suggest you to watch Kiseiju (sometimes also called Parasyte), and if you have Netflix then try to take a look there too since there is a lot of interesting stuff

2.1M for The Batman in its second weekend (-42%), while for the new films we have the BTS one that opened in second position with 400k thanks to tickets of 23/24 euros each (🤨), "Non ci Resta che il Crimine" in 4th position with 300k and Jackass Forever that opened in 10th position with 70k

Aside from China, which region are still waiting for the release? The split is looking like 50:50 domestic/international for 700m+ range
China is the only market remaining, it opened last week in Japan but it grossed so little that the North America/Rest of the World split hasn't changed...

€772 in Italy Saturday, just a 38% drop from last weekend. Again a great hold, the movie is heading strongly to a sub 40% in Italy.
Good, it was probably helped by the return of food and drinks in theaters after a two-months stop, so I'm expecting good holds also from Uncharted and Death on The Nile

Pardon the question from a complete newbie here, but overall how is it performing in the international market. so far domestic grosss eems to be dwarfing international.
INTERNATIONAL (39.4%)
$124,200,000Is it still awaiting release in majpr overseas markets?
Yeah as the others said BoxOfficeMojo updates the overseas total a couple of days after the US/Canada one, in the end this film will probably be close to a 50/50

Twitter users are the worst members of society.
I agree, and probably these same idiots were also the ones who were defending the absurd idea of having Jodie Turner-Smith interpret Anna Boleyn...

So what are the main differences? Is it just about their streaming services or also something else?

From today in Italian cinemas the consumption of food and drinks is once again allowed, after a two-month stop introduced at the beginning of December
The main beneficiary of this will be The Batman, but also the legs of Uncharted and Death on the Nile and all the releases of the week (even if there is nothing remarkable)

They didn’t update the overseas total this weekend, is that the final total then?
I think they are just slow, this isn't the first time it happens

Updated numbers (I think):
Damn, with the actuals 10M higher than yesterday's estimates (6M higher in Usa/Canada and 4M in the rest of the world) I'd say 800M is almost locked

Highkey expecting Super Hero to do worse than Broly as well, as the movie's pv really have just looked all around underwhelming. The CGI isn't terrible, but compared to the animation spectacle of Broly it's just not up to par.
Thanks for the answer, and yeah for "Super Hero" I'm expecting ¥2B to be generous

"The Batman" opened with a €3.7 million weekend (4.1M dollars) and 490k tickets sold, second highest result of the pandemic surpassing The Eternals. I was expecting a €4M debut but sunday went worse than expected 🤷♂️
No Way Home on the other hand has spent its first weekend outside the top 10, and is really close to its final figures: a gross of 24.6M euros and 3.3M tickets sold

Doraemon: Nobita's Little Space War 2021 started with ¥440M /350K attendees on 3-days, topping the Weekend score with ¥394M /322K attendees. Will projected a potential ending of ¥3.0B
The Last 10 Years start with ¥300M /228K attendees in 3-days, ending second in row of Weekend result : ¥221M /162K attendees
Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 finally drop to third on it's 11th Weekend, which result in ¥133M /87K attendees, the box office score has reached ¥12.39B /8.85M attendees, rounding off, it defeats Beauty and The Beast (¥12.4B) rising to 22nd in history!
I must say that after seeing the excellent results of the anime films of the last few years (mainly Kimetsu no Yaiba and Jujutsu Kaisen, but also the usual Detective Conan, Evangelion and Doraemon) I checked again how much Dragon Ball: Broly has earned, and as I remembered it was only ¥4 billion
But how is it possible that the most important and promoted film of one of the most famous and appreciated series of all time loses the comparison so clearly?

I see there's no competition for a month but I fear the GA won't dig a 3 hours comic book film so "slow", gritty, dark, introspective and melancholy. It will also lose let's say $25/30M because of the war. I bet on a $750M final.
Having said that I found it the most beautiful comic book film ever.
I still think it can exceed the $800 million, but yeah due to the war it has lost all its possible gross in Ukraine (for obvious reasons) and in Russia/Belarus (for the sanctions), but it will also probably decrease the gross in very involved countries like Poland, Romania and Finland to name the biggest ones

$120M OS opening = under $375M final in those markets. China will add $70-120M. So it's very likely OS total comes in under $500M.
Yeah unfortunately that's very likely, and for China I'm thinking more like $50-100M 😕

Yesterday I went to see the film and I really enjoyed it, but I have to say I had the feeling that the film was too slow. I've seen some films of 3 hours or more but none had given me this clear feeling
And as we know, a long length decreases the number of shows available and may "scare" a part of the possible audience, but in this case combined with the grim tone it can also damages possible rewatches. I still hope the legs will be good, and that it manages in the end to gross more than 850M...
