I recently found an updated list of the highest-grossing superhero movies of all time in Japan:
Marvel:
¥7.50 billion ($59.2 million) - Spider-Man (2002)
¥7.12 billion ($67 million) - Spider-Man 3 (2007)
¥6.70 billion ($61.1 million) - Spider-Man 2 (2004)
¥6.13 billion ($55.3 million) - Avengers: Endgame (2019)
¥4.2 billion ($36.5 million) - Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
¥3.74 billion ($34.1 million) - Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
¥3.61 billion ($46.2 million) - The Avengers (2012)
¥3.21 billion ($26 million) - Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
¥3.16 billion ($39.1 million) - The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
¥3.14 billion ($30.7 million) - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
¥3.06 billion ($28.1 million) - Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
¥2.80 billion ($25.6 million) - Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
¥2.63 billion ($24.1 million) - Captain America: Civil War (2016)
¥2.57 billion ($26.4 million) - Iron Man 3 (2013)
DC:
¥5.06 billion ($46.7 million) - Joker (2019)
¥3.00 billion ($20 million) - Batman (1989)
¥2.55 billion ($12 million) - Superman II (1981)
Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 are also the only two films on this list that appear in the 100 highest-grossing films of all time in Japan. How much do you think "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will do?

Damn I didn't expect the Eternals to reach the 7/8 million, especially after the disappointing result of Black Widow a few months ago
Anyway, I remember that some time ago (before the start of the pandemic) a user posted a list of the highest grossing superhero films of all time in Italy, I think from 5 million upwards, would anyone be able to find it?

Thanks to this re-release, in the list of the highest grossing films in China Avatar has gone from 49th place to the current 33th (and should finish in the top 30)
Considering instead only foreign films, it went from 17th place to 9th and could overcome also "Jurassic World: the Fallen Kingdom" in the next weekend

Kinda lost motivation, the UK was one of the 2 biggest markets along with France so the thread doesn't have as much worth as before....I'd like to turn it into a Europe thread instead of EU but it's a lot of work and I don't have that much anymore.
All of Europe sounds great, probably even better. And will you count also countries half in Europe and half in Asia like Turkey and Russia?

I intend to add a few numbers to it so I up it to find it more easily a bit later ^^
Hey I just found this thread and it's really interesting, could you post an updated all-time top 20? (so also with Endgame, the Lion King etc). Then whether include the United Kingdom or not I don't know, do as you prefer (it's a difficult situation...)

Records expected to be broken by this weekend
1st film to gross $300mn USD in JP
#1 film in JPY , current record - ¥30.80 billion Spirited Away
early next week
#1 film by admissions, current record - 23.5mn Spirited Away
Demon Slayer will break these records faster than I expected, but I really don't understand why Japan doesn't count re-releases in the total gross of movies
Apart from Princess Mononoke and Titanic (both ¥0.85/0.90 billion to add), which have already been surpassed, Spirited Away also had a re-release. We know that its ¥30.8 billion total is actually ¥31.66, and its 23.5 million admissions are actually 24.3
Considering those actual totals, do you think Demon Slayer will still be able to break both records by Christmas?

Great thread! We can use this link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_highest-grossing_films) for the major part of them.
But are you sure about Spirited Away over Your Name? Counting also the recent China's gross it's at $350 million, maybe there are some errors in the counts or in the currency exchange?

Amazing like always! 👍🏼

Charlie you are a real expert and I have a big request: the highest grossing films in Europe (including also Russia/Usrr?).
We can already imagine a top 5 like this:
- Avatar
- Titanic
- The Force Awakens
- The Lion King (2019)
- Avengers Endgame (probably)
But how a top 10 would look like? What about Harry Potter 8, Skyfall, Spectre, Lord of the Rings, Infinity War...
-
Can somebody update it? This is one of the most interesting topics

Hey Jatinder, do you have the South Korean gross of Parasite? With the daily report it would be perfect!
-
Finally we have some totals! Weathering with you over $130M and Parasite over $40M, but how long is Your Name gonna stay in theaters? And there are any chances for Frozen 2 to be re-released?

It could be that Disney is releasing F2 on Home Video/Streaming and so the screening is stopped. i think something like this happened for the 1st movie as well if I am not wrong.
8 hours ago, charlie Jatinder said:I guess Disney is releasing Onward on March 12. Endgame stopped its run when FFH released.
What a pity! Japan is famous for his long runs, biggest films usually stay in theaters for over 5 months. The latest example is "Weathering with you" which ended his run just one month ago.

"Anna and the Snow Queen 2" has surpassed 10.34 million admissions and 13.211 million yen in revenues as of 2/16. Theatrical screening was announced to end on 3/12.
What? Are you sure? March 12 is too early! Frozen 2 is still in the top 10 and is still having a good weekly drop, I was expecting a screening end at the end of April...

Amazing! Is there a link confirming the re-release? As I know it's being re-released in India on February 14.
Warner Bros Italia announced it everywhere: on their twitter and facebook, on their youtube channel and also on TV/radio with a new commercial!

Official EMEA numbers are 560m for TLK and 535.5m for AEG. Endgame just barely edges out Skyfall for the #5 all-time in EMEA.
I assume it goes
Avatar
Titanic
TFA
TLK (560m)
AEG (535.5m)
Skyfall (520m)
Are you sure that Skyfall has grossed less than AEG in Europe? Because its UK gross is really insane!
And how much has Harry Potter 8 grossed in Europe? Is it near to AEG and Skyfall?
