Kinda lost motivation, the UK was one of the 2 biggest markets along with France so the thread doesn't have as much worth as before....I'd like to turn it into a Europe thread instead of EU but it's a lot of work and I don't have that much anymore.

All of Europe sounds great, probably even better. And will you count also countries half in Europe and half in Asia like Turkey and Russia?

I intend to add a few numbers to it so I up it to find it more easily a bit later ^^

Hey I just found this thread and it's really interesting, could you post an updated all-time top 20? (so also with Endgame, the Lion King etc).  Then whether include the United Kingdom or not I don't know, do as you prefer (it's a difficult situation...)

Ah well I see that finally the re-releases are counted in the total gross (Spirited Away, Titanic and Princess Mononoke), but not in the number of tickets sold? Can I ask you why?

Records expected to be broken by this weekend

1st film to gross $300mn USD in JP

#1 film in JPY , current record  - ¥30.80 billion Spirited Away

    early next week

#1 film by admissions, current record  - 23.5mn Spirited Away

Demon Slayer will break these records faster than I expected, but I really don't understand why Japan doesn't count re-releases in the total gross of movies

Apart from Princess Mononoke and Titanic (both ¥0.85/0.90 billion to add), which have already been surpassed, Spirited Away also had a re-release. We know that its ¥30.8 billion total is actually ¥31.66, and its 23.5 million admissions are actually 24.3

Considering those actual totals, do you think Demon Slayer will still be able to break both records by Christmas?

  7. Charlie you are a real expert and I have a big request: the highest grossing films in Europe (including also Russia/Usrr?).

We can already imagine a top 5 like this:

    - Avatar

    - Titanic

    - The Force Awakens

    - The Lion King (2019)

    - Avengers Endgame (probably)

But how a top 10 would look like? What about Harry Potter 8, Skyfall, Spectre, Lord of the Rings, Infinity War...

It could be that Disney is releasing F2 on Home Video/Streaming and so the screening is stopped. i think something like this happened for the 1st movie as well if I am not wrong.

I guess Disney is releasing Onward on March 12. Endgame stopped its run when FFH released.

What a pity! Japan is famous for his long runs, biggest films usually stay in theaters for over 5 months. The latest example is "Weathering with you" which ended his run just one month ago.

Official EMEA numbers are 560m for TLK and 535.5m for AEG. Endgame just barely edges out Skyfall for the #5 all-time in EMEA.

    I assume it goes

    Avatar

    Titanic

    TFA

    TLK (560m)

    AEG (535.5m)

    Skyfall (520m)

Are you sure that Skyfall has grossed less than AEG in Europe? Because its UK gross is really insane!

And how much has Harry Potter 8 grossed in Europe? Is it near to AEG and Skyfall?
