Aline (Celine Dion) opened only in seventh position, but on the other hand a release I didn't even know existed debuted in first position and grossed just 1/2% more than No Way Home. It's "Il Lupo ed il Leone" (The Wolf and the Lion), with about 34k euros, and from what I understood it's quite similar to "Mia and the White Lion" which grossed almost 6M 3 years ago

OMG! I have SG$42 for Singapore, ₱1450 for Philippines. Now, €9.3 for Italy. BTW, did you watch?
No in the end I didn't watched it because the two cinemas close to me didn't have it, on the other hand I saw No Way Home for the second time together with three friends who hadn't seen it yet (two weren't that interested and one was in quarantine after the holidays)
At this point I think I'm going to watch it on Amazon before the end of the month (since my free month expires on the 31th January), but with anime I really have a lot of catching up to do, in 2021 I saw almost nothing and my "plan to watch" list basically doubled 😅

In its 3-day release in Italy Demon Slayer grossed 51k euros (57 thousand dollars). It won't be much but if he had been released in July it would have earned double that amount on the first day alone
Anyway, does anyone have its updated global gross? I checked Bom and TheNumbers but they are useless as always so I have no idea. And what is the total in Japan now?
-
Yesterday 18k for Demon Slayer, for a final total of 51k euros
Tomorrow some new films will probably change this stationary top 10, but only Aline have a chance to open in the top 3

Anyway, I've never seen named many of these in BoxOfficeMojo and similar sites, so I really hope they count everything correctly
Ah I also have a question, more or less how much does North Africa affect the total gross and number of admissions of France?

Presale for NWH is amazing in Norway, already at 90 000 and expecting to reach 100 000 before opening on Friday.
This is by far the biggest presale of all time, 59% over Endgame, the previous record holder.
Damn I forgot it had yet to comes out in Norway, I can't believe they had to wait that long

Forbes Report:
Spider-man No way home become the highest grossing film of the year in 54 markets, among all 81 markets in the world(The world have over 200 countries but many countries are combined in one market when we counting box office,so total is 81 markets.)
For comparsion,it's second biggest in 21 century, more than Avengers:Endgame【Take over 40+ markets yearly champion among all 81 markets】,In entire 21 century only behind Avatar【Take 69 markets yearly champion.】
It's break All-time Hollywood box office record in 6 markets, for comparsion,Avengers:Endgame beating over 30 markets Hollywood all-time record,Avatar beating over 77 markets Hollywood box office record ,and Titanic beating Hollywood record in All markets in the world.
Damn Endgame came out in one of the most competitive years ever and still won more than 40 markets, probably excluding The Lion King it would have added another 20 markets from Europe alone
Anyway, the fact that there are 81 markets is very interesting and it's a question I've been asking myself for a long time, it would be really amazing if someone did an analysis of them
For example, the ones I know are Russia/Cis which is the sum of about 7/8 different countries of which Russia represents about 90% of the total gross, South Africa which should also include Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia (well that's not much to be honest), and I remember that the UK includes all the overseas territories but also Ireland and Malta
-
Yesterday 7th position and €18k for Demon Slayer, in the meantime I noticed that it has frighteningly expensive tickets as other films have grossed the same but had double admissions...

As per BOM, Dune made 600K WW between now and Jan 10 (previous amount change). So 2.4M to 400M WW. I'm sure WB will dig up the difference from under-reported markets.
Nice. I think it added something also in Usa, but less than 100k

Could we say at least that overcoming Infinity War (at ¥3.74B) is locked? And maybe also ¥4B? Then anything more than that it's fine, even if initially I was hoping to pass Joker at ¥5.06B

According to Deadline: House Of Gucci (UNI): $4.2M intl weekend (49 Uni markets); $73.4M intl cume/$124.2M global.
Something doesn't add up. Maybe there are more markets not covered by Uni that are not included in these updated numbers?
Yeah it's the first time I see a movie grossing 4M and still having a lower total than the previous week 😅
-
House of Gucci should now be at about 140M and BoxOfficeMojo still has it at 124M, that site really leaves me speechless...
-
The funny thing here is that in the meantime Bom has continued to update the gross in the UK, but the WW total hasn't changed in a month...
-
Demon Slayer opened in 8th position with an embarassing 14k euros on his first day, had it come out in July as originally planned it would have easily made over 100k. And this is like the tenth flop in a row in our market, basically the last two films that have done well are No Way Home and House of Gucci (the latter especially for its legs)
This week there will be the release of the film about Celine Dion and other minor movies who won't gross anything (including one about Van Gogh, I fell like there is a new one every year...)

Damn this was one of the most interesting threads but unfortunately it was abandoned for 3 years and then the author left the site. Maybe one of the next days I'll create a new similar thread and above all updated (especially now that No Way Home may have entered in the top 10 of all-time)

Some interesting facts and stats about the list:
- The number of movies over one billion dollars falls from 52 to 35
- The year that loses the most movies is 2019, with Far From Home, Captain Marvel and Aladdin dropping off the ranking
- The best placed movie to leave the chart is The Fate of The Furious, previously in 23th position with 1.236B
- Similarly to the previous case, the film that loses the most positions is Furious 7, from 11th to 22th
- The movie who gains the most positions (16) is The Dark Knight
- Age of Ultron loses an important part of its gross and surprisingly is now lower than both Black Panther and Incredibles 2

I created this thread because I noticed that in addition to being able to easily know the gross of a film excluding USA and Canada (overseas/international gross), we also have a thread dedicated to the highest grossing movies excluding USA and China, but not one excluding China only
I think it makes sense also because it isn't only a very big market, at this point equal to the US, but it has grown very quickly so even "recent" films from just 10 years ago couldn't benefit from this market as much as those released more recently, making comparisons much more difficult. Here is the list:
1) Avatar: $2.660 Billion
2) Avengers: Endgame: $2.168 Billion
3) Titanic: $2.104 Billion
4) Avatar: The Way of Water: $2.074 Billion
5) Star Wars: The Force Awakens: $1.944 Billion
6) Spider Man: No Way Home: $1.917 Billion
7) Avengers: Infinity War: $1.678 Billion
8)Inside Out 2: $1.635 Billion
9) The Lion King: $1.537 Billion
10) Top Gun Maverick: $1.493 Billion
11) Jurassic World: $1.442 Billion
12) The Avengers: $1.433 Billion
13) Barbie: $1.410 Billion
14) Super Mario Bros: $1.337 Billion
15) Frozen II: $1.328 Billion
16) Star Wars: The Last Jedi: $1.290 Billion
17) Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows 2: $1.281 Billion
18) Deadpool & Wolverine: $1.247 Billion

JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW
in International Box Office
Posted
I've heard that Sony Japan will give prizes (after drawing the lucky ones) to anyone who will buy at least 3 tickets for No Way Home, whether they have watched it or not. Do you think it will have any effect on the box office? 😅
