Revisionist history going on here. Most people already had it pegged at $7m for midnight's go check both TASM threads. Only 2-3 users went far below or far higher. It's a decent number but declaring it a huge success really needed a number in the double digits realm. Lets wait for full Tuesday OD numbers (plus wasn't this having 9pm screenings at some theaters?)

It is not excuses. If anything it had more advantages than SM3.1. It is summer so school is out unlike SM32. Midnight's are more popular now3. 3D ticket price premium4. More IMAX screens5. More screens periodLol at some of the attempts to downgrade this solid midnight result"It's not doing as good as Spider-Man 3" who except iJAck was expecting it reach Spider-Man 3 attendance?"obviously the fanbase rushed out to see it". Yet when the Avengers opened people were quick to make it clear that superhero films don't tend to have huge midnights (Which is absolutely true). Though for ASM I guess the rules apply differently

AgreedTo be fair, it's Monday during July when kids are out of school. SM3 came out on a Thursday night in early May when teenagers and college kids were still in school. It is a solid start for sure and I think Baumer's club is dead, but it's not "stellar" like Sony is spinning right now.

No crow for anyone. Its a decent number but nothing earth shattering. Its below SM3 which did not have 3D premiums or the number of IMAX screens to help it but it is a Monday night so a lot of people won't go.It's decent just like the movies box office gross will be. So everyone calm down.

not realThe Amazing Spider-Man- $5.2 million midnightSource Deadline.com

But $7M is boring, I want to see something like $3M or $15M, so that meltdowns can happpen.

Say What?Everyone I know talks about Big Bang Theory and I've really tried to get in to it and I've watched some but I fucking hate it. Same with The Walking Dead as well.

South Park went downhill too.Great for TED and MM.Where the hell are the TASM numbers?

How PIXAR have fallen.

I still have not watched Alice in Wonderland and judging by this poll I have not missed anything

I didn't think The Avengers could turn out to become one of my favorite movies of all time. It wasn't until I saw it that happened. TDKR won't get any special place just because it's a movie that I antecipate. Not even my most antecipated movie of this summer will, which is TASM. Antecipating a movie is one thing, expecting it'll be a masterpiece is one thing. Affirming that it will happen it's another.

I see the opposite....especially after TDKR which is like Geek meccaI quite like this post. Having The Avengers as the best one billion movie doesn't mean that people have short attention span. I see the number growing even more if someone make the same question some years from now.

Avengers is out right now so it will get a lot out of recent popularity.TS3 was a very good movie but somehow got lost....maybe because its animated.TS3 has shockingly few votes.
-
To be serious.....I only really like TDK and TS3Avengers, DH2, LOTR 3 and Titanic are cool but I can take them or leave them.TF3 is a piece of shit and I can't believe it made so much.
