Is it that difficult to migrate over to CCT? All of these gifs ruin the experience on mobile especially with a bunch in a row.

What's going on in here? Discussion of spousal abuse, Scientology, mental abuse and It Comes At Night spoilers because someone saw it and didn't like it. The thread sucks. Good thing It Comes At Night wasn't critically acclaimed CBM or that wouldn't fly. Get back on point, gang. A mod already asked everyone get on point. Clear the junk out of this thread, please.
Good thing I didn't browse through it yet. Will make sure to avoid the middle pages lol.

Great hold on Sunday like Saturday, glad we were able to see the initial estimates had to be off.

50-50 sounds pretty desirable to me.
My point is though the average CBM is obviously male skewed. We want it to get to the point where a female lead doesn't change the skew one way or another.

Back to WW, I saw Shawn tweeted that it's the first CBM in the modern era to have a majority of women for OW. 52% to 48%. Another feather in its cap.
Although in fairness we want a big male share in a movie like this. Young boys need to be able to look up to strong women as role models as Emma Watson so often says.

Questioning JL's ability to gross a billion doesn't make you a hater.
Speaking negatively about anything makes you a hater bud.

These budgets are crazy imo and most of the time they don't show in the final product. when i go to the cinema i don't feel like ive watched a 300M movie. that too plays a part in being disappointed with the final product.
The word to describe that feeling is BLOATED.

Yep. Youre right. RTH is lying to us as well.
Relax man, it can also mean Sunday is underestimated lol. NBA Finals is tonight as well.

I get DMC and AWE being as expensive as they were the money is up there on screen. But OST did not look expensive at all. And apparently neither does DMTNT
Perspective my friend, it's important to have looking at these budget estimates.

I think studios are running away from splitting movies since Divergent 4 was cancelled till further notice, lmao.
Yeah but it's Star Wars, and when is there going to be a SW10? I thought this was the end of another trilogy within the saga.

Also return on investment from a % standpoint and not just net.

I've been told by people I trust that they spent over 700m on production alone for those two. And that was back when 200m was still considered expensive.
See this is why we need perspective on looking at a gross number or even a budget estimate. You are never getting 100% accuracy and a decent portion of the time it's significantly off.

It was only green-lit because of the International, as are most tent poles. Though in this case they knew about 80%+ was coming from Int'l.
You could say the same about Transformers.

Any chance SW9 is eventually split in two?

I assume Disney's spending upwards of 800m or more on the combined INFINITY WARs (production and marketing).
How much did they spend on the last two Pirates? At least $600m for all of that so its definitely in the ballpark.

Best way to sum up last 20-30 pages... WW good, MOS mixed, SS & BvS bad, JL & IW... Who the F knows?

The thread's actually not bad right now so FAIL.
People seem to want to comment on how much a thread is derailed as much as the thread actually being derailed lol.

Show me where I said you or anyone was dumb. I may have said I thought an idea was dumb but to say I called everyone that is such a hilarious stretch it's pretty absurd but whatever floats your boat.

People have been trying to explain him that but he doesn't understand and just calls everyone else dumb instead.
Nice hyperbole here man, really good from a site moderator.

Whats with the salt today?
I'm good this is just how I am. Salty about many things in life. Given WW plenty of praise though too just to be fair.

In this case, WW overperformed industry expectations (either slightly or significantly, depending on which ones you look at, I suppose). Fan expectations were all over the place -- surely they spiked a lot in the last several weeks but I would hazard a guess that most long-term fan predictions (from those who follow BO at least) were fairly low.
The other interesting thing, for me, is that it's completely bucking the trend of other DC movies: warm reception, no fan-rush, looking relatively backloaded, etc.
Agreed, it's a really nice opening for WW esp if that Saturday number holds to its estimate. One of the better jumps we've ever seen for a summer CBM.

Derby predictions were reasonably close, I think. Summer game predictions were mostly higher.
Nice job to the forum then, that's about what you'd expect when we are reasonably accurate.

Again it may have underperformed but in terms of Shared universe it did fine.
Soon you all are gonna come to the realization that this universe has no flops and at the end of he day that matter more than any of them making a Billion.
We can't throw a 730+ Ww/315 average and throw it out the window as if it isn't an achievement.
It's about perspective, clearly there are different opinions that can come from the same numbers and I'll leave it at that. I honestly don't really care about how profitable it is, I'm more interested in how films do vs industry (and to a much lessor extent) fans/analyst expectations.
