All the comparables for the preview number puts this at $95-120~ mil OW.
Lol it has no shot at $120m now based on a $27m Friday day. May want to tighten that range a bit.

Off a 38m Friday (plus previews), I think it has a solid chance to do 35-36m tomorrow.
I think that's way too high. $31m seems way more realistic if that.

Are you guys talking about $38m or $27m?

Not by much. If WOM stays high could stay flat or increase.
Lol increase? From $38m? Zero chance when it did $27m today.

Honestly I think very little. I also wouldn't be surprised if it stayed flat
Why? That makes no sense based on any comparables.

How much do you guys think it's dropping tomorrow?

$27m Friday day, not bad.

You would think so, but then again WB loves Snyder and he has produced numerous flops. Given this fact, what do you think their view of Nolan is? There was an article a couple years ago in either the WSJ or NYT that made it sound like he is a god on the WB lot. More power than any of the executives there.
Hilarious that it's not just geeks on the Internet that worship him.

Why would Nolan make another CBM when he's made arguably the greatest CBM of all time?
It just seems unecessary when his film is considered the pinnacle of comic book films and his trilogy is also one of the best if not the best.
In fairness he made another CBM after the greatest CBM ever lol.

As long as they want to keep working with him, they will leave it the hell alone if he wants them to leave it the hell alone. Otherwise I'm pretty sure his buddy Alan Horn at Disney would love to add him to their stable.
He also has to keep producing results in fairness.

They will. That movie left no room for a sequel. Plus I doubt Leo would come back and they won't make it without him so...
I hope so because personally I don't want to see it even though I really love the film. I don't have faith it won't eventually be a sequel or a remake.
-
Does anyone have faith WB will just leave Inception alone forever? Even without Nolan being involved, they own the rights I believe.

I'm guessing WB are knowingly taking a bath on Dunkirk. It's an investment in a future relationship with Nolan as much as anything else. God knows they've had no idea how to market it.
If it does take a bath maybe they pressure him into Inception 2.
-
I see those arguments from people wondering why Dunkirk should open close to Inception (about $70m adjusted). That's a pretty big ask. $50-$60m seems more realistic.

The real money is in the toys sold after the movie. See: Cars
Cars is sort of unique in that way.

Trust me my BO analysis is far from servicable to even be a disservice
Well mine too but that's what we do here right? [emoji3]

When CBM are making less than 150m domestic and 500 WW we can talk about fatigue. Right now that ain't happening
Hold on a second man, the discussion was about whether the DCEU can reach TA type levels on one of their films. If you deny that is going to be a theme as we are already seeing worse legs with each passing wave, then you really do your BO analysis a disservice.

The only SH movie I can see coming close to Avengers 1 number is IW1 or IW2 and even that would be difficult with the bad ER rate going on.
I don't know if this has been mentioned in the international threads but the dollar has spent much of the year weakening. Well off the highs set early last year.

The Avengers was the exception, not the rule. It was a build up of movies that had great reviews critically and from the audience, had a massive marketing prelude, and had brand trust from the audience. DC needs to make their movies better, first, before they can even start to think of a TA-style film.
Dude there is no question they originally planned on JL being that film.

Give it time,Many forget The Avengers was the 6th film in the Franchise.
The Dceu only have 4 so far.
CBM saturation is a real thing that obviously wasn't discussed back when MCU was in the opening years.

Will the DCEU ever have an Avengers size behemoth at the box office ?
Or any movie involving Iron Man since that movie for that matter, especially WW ?
Probably not given how rare a TA type of performance is.

Damn, I wanted to say it's obvious why it's a good film.

I haven't been posting nor following box office much but a $80-$90m opening for WW looks very, very good to me.
I don't know why people were predicting a $150m+ opening for this, that just looks too optimistic.
Given it's critical reception and solid opening, I would say it's mission accomplished for WW. The DCEU needs all the wins it can get.
The fact that it's good is without question the most important thing for the DCEU.

76 on Metacritic with 49 critics, so that is very close to the final score. Very good for a superhero movie.
How much was Zack Snyder involved in this film?
What a WONDERful Weekend | WW down only 16% on Sunday. 103M weekend. pg 226

Looking at historical comparables it's really going to need good holds both Saturday and Sunday to even secure $100m+ now. $95m is absolutely possible.
