BP and Best Actress. And BP is really "anything but LLL".
If Moonlight wins (given that's the only alternative) would it be as big of an upset as Crash?

Misafeco is talking about a Hungarian live-action short called "Sing".
The thought of a Kubo victory is so upsetting to me that I've already thought of rationalizations for it.
Whoops my bad and I wouldn't worry man. It's in great shape to win, you understand there is a chance it doesn't and that's thr important thing.

One more cool YouTube compilation, all the BP winners with this year's nominees:

Put how an Oscar host did in the pile of what most people don't remember about the Oscars
Disagree completely, I would say more people remember the host than what movie won BP.

first time i watched the oscars was the first time jon stewart hosted (the infamous crash year). thought he did a good job of keeping it quick and fun but also poking fun at how ridiculous the whole thing is. would like to see him do it again now that he's not busy.
Au contraire, he's working on an animated political comedy for HBO.

I post this every year but these are my two dream Oscar hosts...

Crystal's show was so weak and dated. His kind of humor just doesn't work much anymore today.
Agreed, he and Steve Martin can be done forever if that's ok.

Hot take: Seth MacFarlane was my fave Oscar host after Jackman from the last few years.
Clearly it's not that hot if a lot of us just admitted that above you.

The Best Movie field was expanded because of The Dark Knight.
Result : more Manhcester by the Sea & Moonlight & Fences to suffer through.
Brilliant move AMPAS !
Funny also how most Oscar montages are made of movies that people actually did see in droves, the hypocrisy of it all still astounds me.
ELITES.

Personally I like the extended versions...the flow is better even if its longer...
I can't make it through, I've tried before but it's just too long. Not like binging through a TV show lol.

TTT is probably my favorite but I get awarding ROTK as a culmination of the trilogy
Trilogy is nearly flawless. Hard to go wrong with any of the 3 (NON extended versions lol).

The only thing I need from MacFarlane is Cosmos season 2. I NEED IT.

Except Munich was better than either that year
Munich is a very good flick but Brokeback is a culturally significant film that broke a lot of barriers and for that it clearly was the best of the bunch that year.

i thought seth macfarlane was the funniest host of recent times. i guess for a lot of "oscar people" they aren't into that humour and it didn't play well in the room but he was killing me.
He was great, another fuck the haters. And I've grown a lot LESS fond of Family Guy and his other animated shows as time has gone on.

The Oscar tag line has always been:
Deserves got nothing to do with it.
Brokeback Mountain is one of those examples. You would think it would be a perfect film for the Academy and it "deserved" to win IMO. Booooom Crash, goodnight everyone.

I keep forgetting Melissa Leo won an Oscar for the Fighter.
Yikes. That was not a performance I cared for much at all
She was good in it but Bale carries the movie & also carried her to gold.

I've seen it twice. Once for a regular watch and enjoyed it, and one for my "Wikipedia watch" that I do for historical dramas so I can look up interesting articles/history online to supplement my movie. I do this alot, actually, and recommend it highly. Anyway, that movie rocked. One of my big regrets as a theater director was proposing Rabbit Hole over Frost/Nixon.
It's an alright B movie but I mean to call it better than TDK is laughable imo but that's art for ya.

Oh lawd, some upsets might happen in over half of the first six categories.
What categories could be upsets in the first six?

Frost fucking Nixon? Who here has seen that movie and didn't fall asleep?

Manchester By the Sea is actually a slight betting underdog vs Hidden Figures so aka no chance. Moonlight looks to be about 5/1 to win. Spotlight was 3/1 last year if I remember correctly.
