Or may be its just Scientology and Cruise...many people may not be that much eager to watch his movies no matter how good the reviews or wom are. EOT also with strong wom and reviews barely cracked 100m. And MI5 had everything going in its favor...a well received GP, good trailer, strong reviews, weak market but couldn't break out. After OW we expected good legs but surprisingly its been very mediocre so far. Cruise movies may not flop as he is making good movies, is a good actor and put lot of efforts but things have started to turn out such that if they are not going to flop they are not going to do big/huge numbers as well.
who cares about Scientology? who watches movies base on religion? Cruise himself has not talked publically about scientology in years...stop blaming religion and except an aging star fades naturally, he is still a draw, but not as potent

so two big holiday movie weekends in a row studios put underwhelming films out, first Disney with Tomorrowland and Paramount with Terminator 5, they should have probably released Ant-Man and Mi5 on these weekends....oh well

8th UPDATE, Sunday, 8:32 PM: When the dust settles tomorrow morning, Universal’s Jurassic World is expected to post the biggest opening ever at the domestic B.O. with a FSS of $208M-$210M, overtaking previous champ Disney’s Marvel The Avengers which held the title for the last three years with $207.4M. Industry estimates peg JW‘s Sunday at $55M-$57M which would rep a 19-21% decline from Saturday’s $70M. JW is Universal’s widest release ever at 4,274. Legendary co-financed 25% of the Steven Spielberg produced movie.

maybe? but sometimes like Star Trek 09 or GotG they announce sequels a few weeks before based on good buzz, dating sequels way before release of first is not really marketing
