Seagal does a great performance as the lead, and has human to his character. As he is trying to figure out what happened to an officer in this small Kentucky mining town, Marg Helgbenger was decent as Seagal's love interest. The action scenes were decent, and Seagal kicks ass! But unfortunately there's not as much as action like Under Suehe for example, and in comparison to something like Under Siege the villain isn't as exciting or as memorable like Tommy Lee Jones/Gary Busey, while I admit it's the same villain from the the theatrical version of a great action film called Payback. With some decent acting, memorable side characters, cool sets(filmed in Kentucky and was an actual shut down coal mine, and some decent action scenes. Fire Down Below is an alright actioner for Seagal, but it could've been better although it wasn't bad enough for Seagal to lose his contact with WB or get razzies for this(luckily he didn't win). Grade:B-
