Elle is spectacularly fascinating. A remarkably dense film with complex themes that I'm going to mull over for the next few days, Verhoeven directs a labyrinth of a script written by Birke that never ceases to captivating. Femininity and sexuality are just the tip of the iceberg of what he's playing with here, and it's truly extraordinary how it stays all together. Huppert's performance is phenomenally underplayed, and the rest of the cast does well too. Dudley's score is beautiful, and the film overall is just an achievement. Elle might be the best foreign film I've ever seen (admittedly I haven't seen many), being a stunning meditation of womanhood and toxic masculinity, among other things.

A disquieting yet incredibly rewarding and thought provoking masterpiece. Watching how intricate Michele's revenge becomes, as well as the series of events that builds to the finale, is absolutely awesome. Huppert deserved the oscar.

true, isabelle should have won, I still couldn't believe Asian Smurf steal the show;

if isabelle won, the oscar fiasco wouldn't happened, because as they opened the envelope, the content would be " Isabelle huppert, Elle" , which make absolute no sense for faye read, “elle”, which wasn't even nominated for best picture
