Blankments
Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero isn't as bad as it looks. It would entertain kids, and goes to some surprisingly dark places for a cheap animated movie targeted to the youngest demographic. However, it just feels very standard. The voice-acting is phoned-in, all the character models are the peak of genericness, and the limitations of its budget show more often than they don't. Patrick Doyle's score has a solid main theme, but that's all there is to it. The whole movie has the vibe of something they would play in a museum on loop to educate kids on WWI. There's definitely a niche for that, but I'd argue a multiplex isn't exactly where I'd put it. Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero is a forgettable entry in the cheap CGI animation marketed-to-kids subgenre. It isn't particularly bad, but it's definitely not good. Very meh.
