Hiccup23
Friday, July 5th Howling Commandos strikes with $39.1M opening weekend. Reviews were mixed but audiences loved the fun and awarded it a B+. Howling Commandos saw large support from the male demographic. Island of the Blue Dolphins opened strong with $29.6M. Island of the Blue Dolphins demographic wise saw strong females, ages 18-29, and minority support. The film earned a B+ as well from audiences, altogether an A from ages 18-29. The lowest grade (B-) came from ages 30-49 and one can deduce that families didn’t like the more mature themes. The Odyssey 2 continued to impress despite losing audiences to Howling. The Odyssey 2 remains a force to be dealt with. Call of Duty fell a better than expected -54.9% with $20.3M. The video game war film as projected last week shouldn’t suffer the same fate as BioShock. The Hills Abduction fell -59.1% to $6.3M. Howling Commandos - $39,115,186 million/$66,833,675 million Island of the Blue Dolphins – $29,558,022 million/$50,425,118 million The Odyssey: The Counsel of the Dead- $20,568,111 million Call of Duty- $20,296,390 million (-54.9%) Hills Abduction- $6,316,777 million (-59.1%) Second Wind: Stormy Seas- $3,600,548 million Ripper- $2,895,174 million Finding Gobi- $2,538,826 million Dan the Alpaca- $1,865,934 million He-Man II: The Revenge of Skeletor- $1,739,841 million Friday, July 12th The Great Inferno surprised with $23.4M and apparently audiences are into fun popcorn flicks this year (EDF, Gods of War, Howling Commandos and now this). The Great Inferno earned a B rating and likely will suffer at the hands of Scavenger Wars next weekend. Island of the Blue Dolphins held well at $19.0M as its story of POC female empowerment resonates with audiences. (DuVernay is crying somewhere..why did O$corp give her Redeeming Love) Howling Commandos head well with $20.2M. Inversion opened with $14.0M right along expectations. The Odyssey 2 is currently throwing more sprinkles on the cake with $12.0M. It is earning $1.7M more than Spark 2 did on its 5th weekend (shade) The Great Inferno - $23,428,390 million Howling Commandos- $20,154,048 million (-48.5%) Island of the Blue Dolphins- $19,002,723 million (-35.7%) Inversion - $14,009,482 million The Odyssey: The Counsel of the Dead- $12,007,348 million Call of Duty- $11,165,373 million The Hills Abduction- $3,459,141 million Second Wind: Stormy Seas- $1,899,580 million Ripper- $1,867,089 million Finding Gobi- $1,418,995 million Friday, July 19th The Scavenger Wars opened with $91.2M and immediately demonstrated that it is the event film of July. Audiences agreed with an A rating. The Scavengers Wars opened below high expectations of $100M+ but…..it does have a barren second weekend. We are gonna keep our eye on this film. The Great Inferno got burned with a -60.3% drop. Inversion escaped a -50% fall with $7.1M. The Odyssey 2 finally fell behind Spark 2 in 6th weekend comparisons with $5.6M. The Scavenger Wars – $91,156,066 million Island of the Blue Dolphins- $10,908,502 million Howling Commandos- $9,606,374 million The Great Inferno- $9,290,164 million (-60.3%) Inversion- $7,119,489 million (-49.2%) The Odyssey: The Counsel of the Dead- $5,624,380 million Call of Duty- $4,800,005 million The Hills Abduction- $1,621,350 million Ripper- $908,012 thousand Second Wind: Stormy Seas- $888,885 thousand Friday, July 26th The Scavenger Wars fell to $46.7M with an expected -48.8% fall. Spark 2 fell -60% and The Odyssey 2 fell -52%. The Scavenger Wars ranked as the third most anticipated film of Year 3 Summer so we wouldn’t be surprised if it held better than the previous two. Gentle Ben delivered $17.8M opening weekend….PETA be praised! The Scavenger Wars- $46,654,984 million (-48.8%) Gentle Ben – $17,754,320 million Island of the Blue Dolphins- $6,554,091 million Howling Commandos- $4,934,475 million The Great Inferno- $4,651,577 million Inversion- $3,844,940 million The Odyssey: The Counsel of the Dead- $3,525,998 million Call of Duty- $2,689,420 million Hills Abduction- $862,457 thousand Ripper- $609,134 thousand Edited May 7, 2018 by Hiccup23 4

Ezen Baklattan
Decent for Inversion, all things considered. A tad disappointing for The Scavenger Wars. It should still cross $300m+, which is great for an original sci-fi, but I was quite certain it would easily out-gross Spark Rising.

Hiccup23
Facts are facts. Not all films can smash $100M especially original properties. Original properties rely heavily on legs not the initial opening weekend.

Ezen Baklattan
Pretty excited for August. With Otherspace as a big wild card, and Scavenger Wars clearly having great WOM, it'll be interesting to see how these two perform.
YM!
To be honest in hindsight, a $91M/$330M run is fantastic for TSW, guess expectations were too high. However after how many hits happened this summer, maybe we should’ve seen it coming. I also wonder if hypothetically speaking, if it had anything to do with potentially not being as family accessible for OW. All in All, this is fantastic, besides the sequel might pull a Lotor... YM!
Also good for Howling Commandos, might do a sequel somewhere down the line and make it more fun and potentially a more campy tone (also I learned I suck at dialogue but live and learn). Besides I feel Blue and Gold might work next year, I heard from one person on it. Island Of The Blue Dolphins is doing strong, it’s no To The Moon but it should get to $150M, the only family competition it has is Miraculous. Was worried about the dark tone but this is a big win for O$corp. Edited May 8, 2018 by YourMother the Edgelord
