Bluebomb Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 (edited) A Simple Life (桃姐) Director: Ann Hui 許鞍華 Cast: Deanie Ip 葉德嫻, Andy Lau 劉德華 Production Budget: $5.4 million US Language: Cantonese Release dates China - March 8 Italy - March 8 Hong Kong - March 9 Singapore - March 9 Taiwan - March 9 Malaysia - March 15 Netherlands - August 16 Awards/recognition Deanie Ip - Best Actress (Venice Film Festival) Ann Hui - nominated for Golden Lion (VFF) Deanie Ip - Best Actress (Asian Film Awards) Andy Lau - Best Actor (Asian Film Awards) Ann Hui - Best Director (Golden Horse Awards) Deanie Ip - Best Actress (Golden Horse Awards) Andy Lau - Best Actor (Golden Horse Awards) I can see this getting a few more markets, possibly a N. America limited release but it has been doing well so far with China, Hong Kong and Taiwan doing fantastic business. It's been reported that tickets for A Simple Life in Taiwan were sold out fast. One to watch out for in the next few weeks. I wonder if it does well in Italy if that will help it break through into the European market. Edited April 12, 2012 by Bluebomb Quote

pinocchio Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 The storyline of the flick somehow reminded me of Intouchables. Got a lot of praise here after Venice but seems to have trouble to find German, French... distributors. Quote
