YM!
Since July, August and September are tomorrow, here’s my bold guesses: Jaws pulls a mini JW ($100M+ OW/$300M finish) Princess Diaries 3 benefits mainly due to lack of female oriented movies in July and pulls an upset and opens over GoWR (both in the $45M-$50M OW range) Amulet II has big OW ($115M) but bad legs for animated movies due to kids not being all appealed due to length. ThunderCats, The Doppleganger and I Am Omega underperform A Fool’s Errand does around $12M OW but legs it to $60M By The Balls does around BlacKkKlansman both OW and DOM Resonance has pretty solid OW ($25M-$30M) TT4FFBH opens to $35M+ Tulpa has $30M four day Welles has $25M four day Big Enough has sub $10M OW The Swarm takes the record for September ($50M+) Inside Man does what Peppermint did Lucid and Crash Bandicoot 2 do $50M+ OWs 1

cookie
7 minutes ago, Spagspiria said: Full Transparency: #1 is The Parvelli Reunion. Okay, here's what happened: I've admitted in the past I did the actuals before I had read it. I assumed it was going to be a straight forward trashy soap opera and I know sometimes audiences really dig that, plus it had all those uber-strong reviews and Oscar buzz, so I did November and most of December before I read it. Then I read it and was all like: But by that point I had done all of November plus most of the December calculations, and I had so much else to get to I didn't want to do it over and have to recalculate everything again (which I ended up doing anyway because I messed up elsewhere). I almost thought of making it tank after New Year's as a form of course correction but that would be unrealistic in of itself, plus it wouldn't be fair to you. So Yorgos Lanthimos can count his lucky blessings @cookie was on a tight schedule.

Ezen Baklattan
CHAPTER 7: A CORDIAL INVITATION July 3-5: 'Jaws' No 'Jurassic', But Still Sinks Teeth into Cash 'Jaws: The Return' couldn't manage to reach the same heights as 'The Force Awakens' or 'Jurassic World' in terms of rebooting classic blockbuster franchises, but all told, I doubt the people at TriCrescent media are too upset. With an impressive 3-day weekend of nearly $85 million, the film won audiences over with its promise of summer fun, and with the A- Cinemascore, it could hold on for long after the holiday ends. 'Hoops' also managed to get a decent shot with a double digit weekend thanks to a strong campaign tied with the NBA. The film also earned an A- Cinemascore. 'The Odyssey' began to stabilize and should keep holding on, while 'HSM4' did burn off a bit of demand, dropping over 60%. It will face some tight competition, but we're rooting for the Wildcats. Jaws: The Return - $83,764,196 (NEW) The Odyssey: Homecoming - $24,193,956 (4th week) (-45.4%) High School Musical 4: The Reunion - $19,372,558 (2nd week) (-62.5%) Paradise Lost - $11,495,623 (2nd week) (-56.7%) Hoops- $10,398,377 (NEW) A Month at Belmond Lane - $4,091,032 (6th week) (-37.0%) Brave - $3,635,902 (5th week) (-41.3%) Darkness Dwells Deep - $3,168,065 (3rd week) (-53.7%) American Dragon: Darkness Rising - $2,702,995 (7th week) (-39.9%) Cabana Boys - $831,799 (7th week) (-50.2%) July 10-12: 'Jaws' Unsinkable; 'Omega' Not Quite Legendary 'Jaws' was able to ease into a smaller than expected drop thanks to the deflated effect of 4th of July falling on a Saturday, scorning another spot at #1. 'I Am Omega' did better than feared with $24m, but the C+ Cinemascore probably isn't a good sign for times ahead. 'The Doppleganger' also disappointed with an $11.9m opening and a B- Cinemascore, thanks to weak reviews and an iffy marketing campaign. Hourglass Pictures is reportedly channeling a lot more energy into the end of the year, and understandably so. Odysseys continues to sail along, while 'Hoops' enjoyed a decent hold. Jaws: The Return - $40,296,289 (2nd week) (-51.9%) I Am Omega: Part 1- $24,050,872 (NEW) The Odyssey: Homecoming - $14,007,189 (5th week) (-42.1%) The Doppleganger - $11,890,901 (NEW) High School Musical 4: The Reunion - $10,227,160 (3rd week) (-47.2%) Paradise Lost - $6,807,813 (3rd week) (-40.8%) Hoops- $6,389,680 (2nd week) (-38.5%) A Month at Belmond Lane - $2,879,640 (7th week) (-29.6%) Brave - $2,385,447 (6th week) (-35.4%) Darkness Dwells Deep - $1,723,056 (3rd week) (-45.6%) July 17-19: Audiences Choose 'Mia' Over Mythos, But Just Barely In the biggest photo finish in box office history, 'The Princess Diaries 3' barely beat out 'God of War' by less than $3k. While the mixed reviews and lack of buzz kept the latter fom exceeding its predecessor, the former took advantage of a market heavily geared towards male-oriented films, although 'HSM4' did take a hit from it. 'Princess Diaries 3' received an A- Cinemascore, while 'God of War: Retribution' received a B+. 'The Odyssey' held better than expected, however. 'I Am Omega?' Not so much. The Princess Diaries 3: The Heir Apparent - $45,822,656 (NEW) God of War: Retribution: $45,819,842 (NEW) Jaws: The Return - $20,730,778 (3rd week) (-48.5%) I Am Omega: Part 1- $9,705,489 (2nd week) (-59.6%) The Odyssey: Homecoming - $8,350,295 (6th week) (-40.4%) The Doppelganger - $5,541,872 (2nd week) (-53.4%) High School Musical 4: The Reunion - $4,522,337 (4th week) (-55.8%) Hoops- $4,036,550 (3rd week) (-36.8%) Paradise Lost - $3,450,128 (4th week) (-49.3%) A Month at Belmond Lane - $1,940,203 (7th week) (-32.6%) July 24-26: 'Amulet' Spellbinds Audiences, But Not Beyond Imagination While the long runtime did alienate some families, also preventing theaters from giving it more showings, 'Amulet II' began to draw in more teen and young adult audiences, building a demographic closer to 'Voltron' and 'Spark' than other kids films. While the $73.5m weekend didn't meet the loftiest of expectations, it may still leg out well thanks to its A Cinemascore, once it gets past the initial frontloading, of course. Speaking of, the two openers did drop a bit after burning off some demand, should hopefully stabilize over a seemingly calmer August. Amulet II: The Last Council - $73,498,253 (NEW) The Princess Diaries 3: The Heir Apparent - $20,696,187 (2nd week) (-54.8%) God of War: Retribution: $20,131,486 (2nd week) (-56.1%) Jaws: The Return - $11,882,103 (4th week) (-42.7%) The Odyssey: Homecoming - $5,529,931 (7th week) (-33.8%) I Am Omega: Part 1- $3,988,625 (3rd week) (-54.1%) The Doppelganger - $3,109,584 (3rd week) (-43.9%) High School Musical 4: The Reunion - $2,750,091 (5th week) (-39.2%) Hoops- $2,103,963 (4th week) (-47.9%) Paradise Lost - $1,990,435 (5th week) (-41.5%) July 31-August 2: 'ThunderCats' Shooed Away By 'Amulet' This week's opener did....Lion-O-Kay. 'Thundercats' didn't have too much enthusiasm despite the strong property ties, failing to break out like 'He-Man' did. The film should still manage decent legs if its B+ Cinemascore is any indication, but it'll have a lot of ground to cover after an opening below $25m. It was also enough for 'Amulet II' to stay on top, albeit with nearly a 50% drop. That still isn't bad for an animated tentpole in the summer, however. 'TPD3' and 'GOW2' continue their very close runs, but it's worth noting that' GOW2' won on weekends, while 'Diaries' is playing a bit more on weekdays. Amulet II: The Last Council - $38,010,925 (2nd week) (-48.3%) ThunderCats - $24,802,594 (NEW) The Princess Diaries 3: The Heir Apparent - $11,203,087 (3rd week) (-45.9%) God of War: Retribution: $10,638,370 (2nd week) (-47.2%) Jaws: The Return - $7,393,540 (5th week) (-37.7%) The Odyssey: Homecoming - $3,875,391 (8th week) (-29.9%) I Am Omega: Part 1- $2,052,535 (4th week) (-48.5%) High School Musical 4: The Reunion - $1,730,858 (6th week) (-37.0%) The Doppelganger - $1,670,892 (4th week) (-46.3%) Hoops- $1,210,325 (5th week) (-42.5%) August will be even wilder. Stay tuned. 3
