Purple Minion
CW was *this* close to become the highest grossing movie after its 2nd weekend, despite a 65% plunge! Just 1M lc ($54K) behind TA2. It still holds the record as the fastest grossing movie (should reach 600M lc today, its 11th day) and the third highest 2nd weekend; #12 movie ever in lc and #14 in admissions. Also passed IM3 to become the highest non-Avenger Marvel movie. Unless there's a total debacle, it should reach 700M lc and eventually sneak into the all-time Top 5. TJB somehow manages to drop less than 40%, on its way to become only the 26th movie to gross over 400M lc. Mother's Day had a soft OW, and the rest are just fillers. Purple Minion
So far it's behaving like TA2 and FF7 last year. Totals up to 2nd Sunday: 597,284,506 TA2 596,342,069 CW 583,393,441 FF7 I cannot see any competition this weekend, so it will hit 700M lc ($40M) . Losing lots of screens to X-Men and Angry Birds on the 19th, though, so if it manages to reach 750M lc ($43M), that should be a great result.

Purple Minion
CW up to $34.8M on Monday, according to Mojo. Crossed the 600M lc barrier as expected.
Purple Minion
Either Monday was underestimated or CW had a great Tuesday: Total is now $35.6M as per Mojo. 615M and #10 all time in lc!
Purple Minion
CW slowed down again on Wednesday. Total is $36.1M, close to 625M lc and good enough for #8 in all time lc. Just 5-10M lc behind BVS, btw. Edited May 12, 2016 by Purple Minion
Purple Minion
There you go. Official numbers: Up to Thu, CW has grossed 637,054,017 lc ($36.75M) and it's now the #1 movie of 2016 and #7 all-time. It's also very close to the Top 10 in audience. Low chance to reach 700M lc this weekend but it will get there. As expected, TJB crossed 400M (400,667,167 lc), becoming only the 26th movie ever to reach that threshold. Full chart and more stats later.
Purple Minion
Weekly numbers. CW becomes the fastest grossing movie ever in lc, passing TA2 with one day less in theatres; but it could lose the crown with a so-so weekend tally. Some other rankings: Top Movies Ever, lc 06 685,840,000 Jurassic World (2015) 07 637,054,017 Captain America 3: Civil War (2016) 08 629,616,949 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) Top Movies 2016, lc 01 637,054,017 Captain America 3: Civil War 02 629,616,949 Batman v Superman 03 400,667,167 The Jungle Book
Purple Minion
Screendaily reports a $2.4M weekend for CW for a $39.2M total. Big drop, no movement at #7 all time, and still 20M short of 700M lc. From Deadline: TJB up to $23.5M. Purple Minion
Angry Birds was the #1 movie with a $2.9M OW, quite low for an animated movie. IMDB had it opening next Friday, btw. EDIT: It was not, reports were wrong. Details in the post below. Edited May 16, 2016 by Purple Minion
Purple Minion
Probably those Birds got Angrier since a local movie (Qué culpa tiene el niño) easily won the weekend with a splendid $3.9M. I suspect AB would have gross way more had it been released last year, animated movies are usually a safe bet in this market. CW collapsed another 60.5%, which is the biggest 3rd weekend drop from any major Marvel movie. Only BVS had a worse drop in recent years. Small consolation: It's less than 1M lc behind JW in the all-time chart. TJB holding extremely well, 5 weeks in the Top 4 and #24 all time. It's also close to enter the Top 20 ever in admissions.
Purple Minion
Weekly figures. We have 2 new Thursday OD: A good one (but nothing to write home about) for XM-A at $1.5M and a not so good one for The Witch at $0.16M. The big story of the week is "Qué culpa tiene el niño", a local movie that, at $5.6M and counting, it's on its way to become a big hit and may fight Magneto and friends for the #1 position this weekend. In holdovers, CW crossed 700M lc, only the 6th movie ever to reach that milestone (3 of them are Marvel, btw). Angry Birds is looking flat, and TJB still has a bit of steam left.
Purple Minion
Weekend preliminary numbers: X-MA is Fox’s second biggest ever opening with $8.6M. Not sure if it includes Thu or it's just Fri-Sun. The Witch #3, $1.4M OW. CW up to $40.7M, however Disney is not using OD ER so the actual figure in USD may be higher. TJB still packing theatres, total is $24.2M AB total is a meh $4.8M. Edited May 22, 2016 by Purple Minion

Purple Minion
At the end there was no competition. X-M:A opened at #1 with a solid 4-day cume of $8.46M (155.5M lc). Comparison with DOFP (which actually had a 4-day OW): Thu Fri-Sun 4-day Audience APOC 27,620,065 127,969,146 155,589,211 2,881,076 DOFP 20,978,578 120,136,784 141,115,362 2,498,938 X-M:A is now #8 on the yearly chart. Will it reach DOFP's 316M lc total? TOP MOVIES 2016 (lc, up to 22 May) 01 714,834,414 Captain America 3: Civil War 02 629,616,949 Batman v Superman 03 424,084,878 The Jungle Book 04 347,000,000 Deadpool <- estimate 05 304,449,299 Zootopia 06 278,787,640 Kung Fu Panda 3 07 235,081,819 Revenant 08 155,589,211 X-Men: Apocalypse 09 146,628,315 Qué culpa tiene el niño 10 135,230,644 The Hunstman: Winter War Local movie QCTEN couldn't sustain the pace, but still had a decent 40% drop on its way to $10M. AB passed $5M, and CW totally deflates with a 72% drop and has zero chance to reach 750M lc.
Purple Minion
Weekly numbers. X:MA still 10% ahead of DOFP after a full week, will face Alice 2 this weekend (Warcraft is released in June 9). Now, AIW opened to a great 96M lc ($7.6M) back in 2010, but with ER down 45% it would need at least a 140M lc OW to play even in USD. AIW also had a fantastic 4x multiplier, very unusual these days. QCTEN should become the first local movie to reach 200M lc since 2013. CW is less than 5M lc behind Minions and their #5 all time position, will it have enough superpower to beat the yellow freaks? Angry Birds, a big disappointment, may not make 150M lc which is bad for a "high profile" animated movie in this market. On the other hand, TJB joyously reaches $24M. Purple Minion
Preliminary weekend numbers (Deadline, Screendaily) Alice 2 #1 with $5M OW, 33% lower in USD than AIW and way lover in lc. Small consolation: a higher OW than Cinderella. X-M:A total up to $14.4M, so a $3M weekend and a 55-60% drop. Bad Neighbours 2: $1.2M, 15% lower than BN1 in USD.
Purple Minion
Weekend numbers. Alice 2 is #1, opening 13% lower in lc and 40% in USD than AIW. Unless its legs are out of this world, it could earn just 1/3 of the original. It did open 6% higher in lc than Cinderella with practically same audience (1.576M vs 1.584M), however it grossed half of Maleficent's OW. The other big opener was Bad Neighbours 2, its 3-day OW is practically the same as the first film, but BN1 had a 4-day Thu-Sun OW of 29.1M lc so the sequel is now 27% behind. X-M:A stumbles 61% on its second week but still 9.5% ahead of DOFP in lc. In the all-time lc chart, Steve Rogers is still sniffing yellow butt... 05 724,790,000 Minions (2015) 06 724,173,688 Captain America 3: Civil War (2016) while in the yearly chart, the Mutants are now #7 and should night-crawl on top of the panda by next weekend. 06 278,787,640 Kung Fu Panda 3 07 253,977,807 X-Men: Apocalypse 08 235,081,819 Revenant
