An effective and engaging horror mystery that becomes easily the best of the three Branagh Poirot movies. Good use of the dark, limited setting and the switch to supernatural territory becomes a refreshing approach to this series.

 

Branagh, assuring that this role will likely be recognized as a highlight in his career, again leads a solid ensemble (the overall least high-profile group of participants across these movies), with each delivering fine work with what little most of them are given, though having no prior knowledge of the story, I found it an intriguing choice that only the most famous names in the cast with the exceptions of Branagh and Tina Fey make up the body count.

Loved this. Loved how they leaned into a traditional supernatural story. Honestly don’t think I have been this excited about a horror film since The Others.

This is my first Poirot foray in any medium, and I liked it well enough. I was more enamored with the production design than the actual mystery, but it was a nice enough ride to go along with.

 

Not compelled to watch the others. B
