I have to agree with the site admin when she said that, while the darker, more futuristic tone looks cool, I'd be afraid we would have ended up with a generic B-sci-fi movie that looked too much like the films he was using as inspiration there. For instance, the aesthetic would be exactly the same as every other dystopian film.
