Mel Brooks first film. And what a fantastic one. Wilder is so funny in this, as is Kenneth Mars (who recently died, RIP)Trivia-Wilder lost supporting actor in this to the actor who played Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka. (Though Wilder should of been nominated for lead)Funny I saw this the same day I saw Captain America.A

I love the frenzied, untamed energy this movie has. The acting is furious to say the least as Mel Brooks whips insane, out of control performances from his players. The two main guys Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder are riotously funny together. The film loses some steam as it goes along but this is one fine comedy, deserving of its status as a classic4,5/5
