  1. I don't care at all about animated films so this is a great day. It goes some way to making up for Frozen.
  2. Because studios officially release the real budgets for their tentpoles all the time...
  3. Martin is taking too long to complete the series. He took 11 years to write the last two books. It's been nearly three years since then and there is no release date in sight for TWoW. His editor said he had only submitted about 180 pages and that was back in February. He had written a bit more than that apparently but it has yet to be submitted. These are 1000+ page books and as of 4 months ago he hasn't submitted even a fifth of that. Seems like there's no way it's coming until 2016 at least. He still doesn't know if he will add an eighth book. He continues to leave the door open for more. From what I've gathered he keeps hoping D&D will drag the series out by adapting the next two books over three seasons or maybe movies or whatever and they aren't doing that. They said seven seasons and have left the door open for an eighth which will probably happen. I highly doubt they will string it out further than that. What D&D have said regarding the shows timeline and what Martin has said don't match up. It's like he's been in denial. He needs to stop pissing around and finish the books. Even if he sticks with seven, which is somewhat doubtful, it will be at least 2020 before they are done. That's if he lives that long. With the huge head start he has had on the series its ludicrous that D&D should be in this position. Yes, they sat down with him and have roughly gone through each character and their fates, but they are doing an adaptation on a series of books and soon they won't have any books to adapt.
  4. It looks like Tatiana Maslany playing a character. It isn't at all convincing which is a shame because it hasn't seemed like that until now. She's done a hard job so well. It never felt like I was watching her acting. The writers have pushed things too far. It's one thing to have an idea conceptually, it's another to portray something on screen. It's just goofy, takes me right out of the show.
  5. This latest episode... seriously? That's just ridiculous. Jumped the shark.
  6. This really should have been six seasons. Well written, acted, directed and everything, but it really has dragged, especially after season 4.The final episode of the first half of season 7 was great though.
  7. They are surely taking the piss putting Kit Harington up for best supporting actor. Glad Charles Dance is on the list.
  8. By the way went back and watched 'Winter is Coming' yesterday. I completely forgot how ridiculous The Hound looked in season 1.
  9. Moving it to the previous episode would be fine. I wouldn't want to see it cut though. I find those conversations as engrossing as the duels. They did need another Oberyn scene prior to the duel.
  10. The one thing I disagree with is the Tyrion /Jaime discussion. I thought it was an excellent addition to the show, foreshadowed the duel well, and was the best discussion in the show since the Littlefinger/Varys chaos speech from The Climb.
  11. I wonder whether people think GOT would be better or worse off it had 13 episodes per season like most other premium dramas.Generally you have better quality control with less episodes. Game of Thrones is often at its best though when they spend a significant amount of the time in one place (Blackwater, The Lion and the Rose) and allow things to build a bit better. The biggest problem the show faces is jumping from one place to another every few minutes or so due to time restraints and the need to 'check in' with the more major characters in most of the episodes. It could be a rare case where more might mean better.
  12. I'm glad they have moved Sansa's storyline forward. For the first time she's an interesting character.
  13. I'm still interested in the Avengers as a franchise, I just think the films in between are something to watch when they come out on Blu-ray and that's about it.
  14. It had better be good because Phase 2 has been disappointing IMO. IM3 and Thor 2 were mediocre and CA2 was fine, but not particularly exciting. Ironic because CA2 looked like the worst of the bunch on paper.
  15. Yeah, yeah... morgage crisis. The problem is more fundamental than that. Nouriel Roubini and Joseph Stiglitz are talking mouths? I never knew.
  16. That was the calm before the storm. Glass-Steagall was gutted by Clinton late in his second term and that had a lot to do with the 2008 crash. Clinton was as responsible for the crash as Bush was. The overall trend was down.
  17. For the US... up until about the late 1960's or so and then all downhill from there.
