  1. There will be more economic collapses in the US soon. It's inevitable because legalised corruption is rampant and it's simply a matter of how much worse things have to get and how much the public are willing to tolerate before something changes. I'm surprised how passive the US population has been since the Great Recession. The vast majority of the population hasn't recovered.
  2. There's no real need for degrees to cost as much as they do. It's a way to get more people to go the corporate route to be able to afford a decent life and to get them to worry so much about their own debt that they don't have time to realise how badly they are being fucked over and do something about it. In Mexico higher education at public universities is free for Mexican citizens and the students protested when that was at risk.
  3. Because making only a few watered down tentpoles per year is actually safer financially than making a bunch of smaller films. They are just number crunchers. The tentpole strategy works, even with the big bombs. That's why they stick to it.
  4. Don't worry, I'm sure Transformers: Age of Extinction will make 1B worldwide and everything will be OK again.
  5. I wonder if the third season can match the second. I still can't believe it's on network TV. It's hilarious how they can show something as violent and bloody as this, but they can't have swearing or nudity, that would be too traumatic for the audience.
  6. I hope we go the whole Summer without a 100M opening. I feel all tingly inside just thinking about it.
  7. Tom Cruise did the damage himself with his Scientology bullshit and whatnot. If people haven't seen the ceremony where he gets some sort of medal with the mission impossible music playing in the background and then he and Miscavige salute each other they should. He seems like a complete fucking maniac in that video. Totally brainwashed.
  8. At least it's only 8 episodes. I'm sick to death of these 22-23 episode network shows. It's one of the main reasons why most network shows suck so badly. No TV season should be longer than 16 episodes and most should be in the 8-13 range.
  9. I think it's safe to say that we can put this opening down to the WOM from the 1998 film.
  10. We can say he's a shit writer and a hack so it hardly bodes well.
  11. People should give him a chance. Orci couldn't have worked on all of these huge movies if he wasn't a talented guy. Besides The Amazing Spiderman 2 was Webb's fault. I hear he was on medication and changed the script.
  12. Wherever possible they should be adapted into premium cable type TV shows like Game of Thrones instead of movies. That way you don't have to condense the crap out of them or dumb them down too much for the GA.
  13. Shame. He's so good on the colbert report. Now he's going to spend all of his time talking to celebrities about their crappy movies. Ugh. His show will probably be dumbed down for the masses.
  14. It was fine. I don't see what all the fuss is about though. Pretty much agree with Ozymandias. Maybe I'm growing out of these films a bit. I'm turning more and more towards premium dramas on television for my entertainment. They seem to deliver much more content, much better content and be able to back it up season after season. With these franchises you are lucky if you can get two good films in a row. Even then, the tent-pole definition of "good" and the cable drama definition are two completely different things. It's hard going from watching stuff like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, True Detective, Justified, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and Mad Men (as I have been very recently), to watching these types of films. I'm not excited about them the same way I used to be. I'm not as easily satisfied as I once was. Those shows stick with you in a way that these films just don't. I think I might be losing interest in film as a format too. It's not as rewarding as long-form storytelling.
  15. It's not going to be five so... Transformers Madea POTC Twilight (just in case) Fantastic Four (before it starts again) This crappy Spider-Man reboot quadrilogy Plus: All animated movie franchises... period. Couldn't give a shit about any of them. All the lame "horror" franchises that go on forever. They can go too.
  16. No movie this year compares to my anticipation for Game of Thrones to start again. Blows the tent-poles out of the water. When those $200M films are long forgotten people will still be talking about this show.
  17. Hell no. Colbert and Oliver would be better off doing what they are doing now rather than some mindless late night chat show designed to serve up fluff to morons.
