  1. Probably the last to sell 100M+tickets. The gross might get beaten eventually.
  2. We probably won't see another domestic run like this ever again.
  3. I want to see it take the Saturday record... in its second weekend. Just for a laugh.
  4. I guess that makes up for the mediocre Tuesday number.
  5. True Detective shouldn't have been in the Best Drama category in the first place. Don't like the way some of these shows are being submitted into categories where they don't belong. Orange is the New Black was submitted as a comedy. They need to tighten up their rules on submissions.
  6. Glad Breaking Bad won again. It was the best show. Don't know what Emmy voters are smoking with the best comedy Emmy though.
  7. Moss would be great. I do hope Pizzolatto can give it a stronger ending this time.
  8. Just because a comic goes on forever, doesn't mean a TV show should. How do they expect to keep viewers interested for that long? You can't have momentum and keep quality high for 12 or more seasons, that's ridiculous.
  9. I don't know how much further I go with TWD. It's clear that AMC are running the show, and apparently they want this to run for 12 seasons or more, which means the storyline isn't going to be moving to a clear endpoint in a timely manner. They will just be meandering along forever, and the show will suffer for it. AMC will kill this show with their own greed.
  10. I don't think he's going to change his books much just because some characters are cut from the show. He knows they are separate things and will do whatever he had already planned. Feast and Dragons introduced way too many characters, and the Arianne stuff pretty much came to nothing . We can now deduce that the Griff stuff isn't going anywhere either. Sure, Arianne is more important than Trystane in the books, but I'm not sure how important the Dorne storyline will be in the end anyway. Cutting down the Dorne storyline, and basically removing the Greyjoy one, are necessary changes to make this show work. They need to seriously cut some of the other pointless shit in Meereen too. If they went along with all of these side stories, we wouldn't have enough time with the established characters that we care about each season, and seasons 5 & 6 would become a real chore to watch. D & D are doing what Martin should have done, they're keeping this thing tighter and more focused. I mean FFS, Dragons had 31 viewpoint characters. Why am I not surprised that Martin won't have the next book out before 2016? He spent 11 years pissing around writing two books that should have been one.
  11. Don't tell me what to say, or not say.
  12. Even if you leave out the Murdoch's political influence, taking over HBO would be a disaster. In an age of generic tentpoles and mediocre movies, HBO has been the bright light, delivering intelligent creative content for adults. Their catalogue of shows, especially over the last 15 years, towers over any other channel. They are responsible for the fact that TV dramas are as good as they are now. In Murdoch's hands I fear their content will go south, just like The Wall Street Journal did, after Murdoch got his hands on it.
  13. There's nothing great about one company having such a monopoly over the media and content business. These mergers will reduce competition and result in more expensive and inferior content. Saying you want that to happen just for the meltdowns is an idiotic thing to say frankly. Murdoch has had far too much power over the media as it is, especially in Australia where he uses his media empire to brainwash huge segments of the population to influence and win elections so that his right wing puppets will do whatever he likes. He's done an enormous amount of damage to this country.
  14. Murdoch will try again with Time Warner soon enough. I fear for the future of HBO. He values it at more than 20 billion. That's the primary reason for his takeover bid.
  15. It's HBO Murdoch wants, they value it at 20 billion+.
  16. Fucking horrifying, frankly. Murdoch is determined to get Time Warner, apparently. I couldn't imagine anything worse.
  17. Murdoch was going to sell off CNN.
  18. This show really does feel too slow. Should have been 10 episodes per season IMO. It's well made, but not that compelling. I'm not exactly rushing to see the next episode, and three seasons in, that's kinda telling.
  19. Michael Slovis, Mark Mylod, Jeremy Podeswa, Miguel Sapochnik, and David Nutter to direct season 5.MacLaren must be on board for True Detective. Mylod and Sapochnik seem like surprising choices. Not sure what to think. Would have preferred MacLaren and Van Patten.
  20. The Netflix Marvel Universe will probably be far more interesting than the MCU.
