I was looking at showtimes for this weekend at nearby theaters when I noticed 1 theater had past movies listed starting tomorrow with "30 Days of Summer" after the movie title.
It appears to be 3 or 4 movies per day and they only have the movies up until next Thursday, but I expect Cineplex Odeon will have the full schedule up soon.
They are $5.99 rather than the $13.50 regular price.
There are several I'd see, but unfortunately most of them are during working hours or too late in the evening, only Easy A fits into my schedule. Hopefully there are some good ones during the rest of the promotion that will fit into my schedule.
Here's what is listed so far:
Thursday, August 17 21 Jump Street, Easy A, The Fault in Our Stars Friday, August 18 The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad Saturday, August 19 Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Parts I and II), Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sunday, August 20 The Fast and the Furious, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious Monday, August 21 21 Jump Street, Neighbours, Sausage Party Tuesday, August 22 10 Cloverfield Lane, Daddy's Home, Pitch Perfect, The Maze Runner Wednesday, August 23 the Hobbit trilogy Thursday, August 24 Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, The Dark Knight, The Fate of the Furious, The Maze Runner

I liked it, but not as much as the previous movies. The problem is this was loaded with huge logical flaws such as...
SpoilerThis is supposed to be a military base/arms depot yet they have huge fuel tanks out in the open and the base itself is built at the base of a mountain (who puts a base where an avalanche is even remotely possible?). For professional soldiers they had shit security. No guards around the pens with the apes and even worse, they were expecting an attack at any time yet the apes were running out in the open just outside the walls without being spotted. Things like these just make my eyes roll.

Episodes 1 and 2 air tonight and I'm about half way through #2. I'm having a hard time following the story, it's just so bizzarre and completely batshit crazy.

Hahaha... Exactly.
But people's overreactions here about its projected final DOM are solely based on its day to day movements and that's not how it works either. The ridiculousness of those projections was practically begging for a more ridiculous response.
Great Sunday, 400M
Horrible Monday, 300M
Surprising Tuesday, 400M
And I assume, Shitty Wednesday, less than 300M

Add those 4 numbers up and they average out to 350, which is where it most likely ends up, give or take a few mil.

The working title for now is Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen
I was thinking of who they might cast as Liz when someone on another forum mentioned Lizzy Caplan, which would be absolutely perfect casting. I haven't been able to think of anyone else even close.

I wasn't planning to see this in theaters, now I'm not even sure I'll bother when it finally makes its way to TV.
It's down to 16% on RT (9 fresh, 46 rotten) and looks to open barely over $9m.
It's not exactly surprising, it wasn't screened for critics (always a bad sign) and opening just 1 week before GOTG2 which is essentially dumping it.

It's expected to be in around 700 theaters this weekend.
Thanks. I was actually kind of worried it might not be in a theater near me so I was pleasantly surprised I have several options on where to see it.

I never even heard of this movie until I was looking for Free Fire showtimes this weekend and saw it is in 1 theater this weekend. It's actually in a theater that has matinee pricing and this looks like it would be worth a matinee admission.

There are a ton of TV spots for this tonight. Is there a theater count for this yet?
I quickly checked 4 of the nearest theaters to me and 3 of the 4 are actually showing Free Fire, although it seems to be on the smaller screens.
This is easily my most anticipated movie this weekend.

According to BOM, this movie has taken the longest this decade to hit $100m. Next closest? Yogi Bear. Good company.
Passengers is listed as the 24th longest to reach $100m Domestic, although that placing is probably off a bit. BOM has Unforgiven as the longest at 318 days, but they don't list the clear "winner", The Rocky Horror Picture Show (currently at $112.9m domestic). I can't recall when it hit $100m, but I'm pretty sure it was somewhere around 35 years after it was originally released in 1975.

So, Dick Cheney is about to start shooting. I hope everyone has a kevlar vest ready.

$99,956,732 now, just $11,000 to pass Gnomio and Juliet. Looking at weekday numbers last week it could pass GaJ on Thursday. I would laugh so hard if it finally got pulled next weekend (I know it won't happen, they will make sure it scratches and claws its way over 100 no matter what).

I'm watching The Walking Dead right now and in one commercial break there were 3 different TV spots for AC.

I don't exactly agree with Grace Randolph when she says the film is racist BUT i agree with her reasoning of why she's calling it racist....the word racist imo is being used in the wrong context by her BUT she's not wrong with what she is saying.
Like it makes absolutely zero sense to take a Japanese woman's brain, insert it into Scarjo's body aka the shell and then suddenly that brain becomes Scarlett Johansson. This so called brain isn't going to suddenly forget everything. In fact, it should by all accounts remember everything. And thats where the film becomes problematic. They actually would have been fine had they used Scarjo's body and inserted a Japanese woman's brain into it as long as it makes sense. In the context of this film...it simply doesnt make sense. If the shell is supposed to be indispensable and the brain is what matters, then how come they go through all the trouble to preserve Scarjo's "shell" and the brain is what gets tossed to the side. From a scientific standpoint it makes zero sense....and the film doesnt make an effort to explain why a Japanese woman suddenly forgets to speak Japanese. Yea i get it....its called Ghost In The Shell....but for folks who are going in blind....it makes no sense.
So I have no issue with the criticism....but the issue isn't racist, in my opinion. Its just a problem within the film itself. At least to me.
I saw this yesterday, I rather liked it. It wasn't awesome, but it was a decent movie with great visuals.
For this movie I was pretty much a blank slate, I'd heard of GITS, but never read or watched anything about it so I came into it with no preconceived notions.
SpoilerI actually paid close attention to the movie and they did cover most of the points you made.
They erased (mostly) her original memories and added false memories. The shell was intentionally not asian as her new persona was written as an immigrant who survived a terrorist attack (why would an immigrant be Japanese immigrating to Japan, or a Japan like culture). This makes sense as it would make her different and not supposed to have any connection to anything or anyone around her, so she wouldn't go looking for one. They actually made the point several times that the "serum" she was taking was designed to keep her original memories suppressed.

I see BOM has added the weekday numbers for this week now and Passengers averaged about $6k a day in 506 theaters for a total of $99,910,536.
It's going to take a lot more fudging to get that last 90k. I can't find any theater counts for Passengers, but the weekend numbers should be... interesting.

I was just looking at showtimes tomorrow when I noticed there are no showings that aren't 3D. I checked 3 other theaters and none of them has a single 2D showing.
This is usually a bad sign. The only movie in recent memory that had no 2D showings here was the last Resident Evil movie, although after a couple of weeks when it was in the smallest auditoriums there were 2D showings.

It doesn't happen often, but sometimes I just want a movie to fail hard and this is one of those movies.
Ever since we got the announcement that Croods 2 was scrapped and THIS got greenlit I've had a major hate-on for BB.
Seriously, it's like Sony wants to fail, they scrap a sequel to a surprise hit that did nearly $600m WW just as its 2 stars are peaking in popularity and go forward with something that sounds horrible right from the concept stages.
Has there been any budget numbers for BB? At least if it's a low budget low risk project it might make a bit of sense, but if the budget is bloated it makes it even worse.
At least the RT score is pointing to a flop so I can embrace the dark side of following its run.

I saw the most recent teaser in front of MMPR and the visuals still look amazing, and so far I've liked every Besson movie except for The Family. As for the leads, I haven't seen much that either has been in, but DeHaan seems solid enough. I actually just watched Chronicle again and he was great in that.
The only thing I've seen Delevigne in is Suicide Squad and all I can picture is that weird spazzy gyrating she did.
I think it has been mentioned before, but DeHaan and Delevigne look way too much like brother and sister, it puts a kind of ick factor when looks like they are doing anything remotely intimate.

Wonder where it found the extra ~$5m OS all of the sudden.
Japan. LLL was $426m after last weekend.
OS always gets updated later and Japan numbers always seem to lag behind most other OS numbers.
Japan is currently listed as $25,927,424 but from the Japan thread we know the total after this weekend (as per estimates) is $30.5m and that extra 4.5m won't show up until OS updates again next weekend.

OS updated.
OS- $282,483,035
WW- $432,712,065

Skyline Sequel (Beyond Skyline)

The only decent thing about the first one was its decent FX given its meager $10m budget. The movie was crap, but it looked more expensive than it was.
I've seen movies with much higher budgets where the FX was worse.
