  1.

Yeah, I never believed the feminist angle made Frozen so special and unique. Pretty much all Disney princess movies have strong, well-developed female protagonists.

    uhhh.... no.

Also, I did find the scene of Elsa kissing Anna to unfreeze her frozen heart a double-edged sword. At the same time it shows very well the two sisters' bond, I think it really throws Kristoff's character development out the window. All this time I was thinking that Kristoff would be the one to kiss Anna and unfreeze her heart based on how they built up their relationship throughout the whole movie, but he becomes completely sidelined in that single scene.

Are you sure you watched the movie?  That's not what happened.

  2. How? thats 5/6 movies a month. Its not designed for someone who goes to 2 movies a month.

For working families with kids in school its hard to get to the movies outside of the weekends.

We do  see 5/6 movies a month when there are a lot of options but we do it by doing a double-header  ( I pay for both) or seeing one Sat night and one Sun morning.

Neither of those are options under the current MoviePass.

We also see movies we like multiple times and I'm not sure this is allowed.  I also receive 10% off through AMC stubs and I'm sure this does not count towards that.

While I love the idea of a movie 'season pass' this program is a little too niche right now.

  3. I read the article and Rudin's "out of her mind" was a private email to Pascal. For all we know, he was also acting cordial and professional towards Jolie.

we're still seeing just one side of the story. If we had access to Jolie private stuff about this, only then I would say that we would be getting both sides.

It is not unusual in a Corp. environment for colleagues to use private email/PMs to replace what in the past would be spur of the moment offhand verbal comments.

Just yesterday during a conference call a colleague I've worked with for over 15 years  IMed me asking why xxx wasn't speaking up and my reply was: 'gutless'.

If just our PMs were released publicly it would put me in a bad light.

However the public would be missing the context of the call we were on... the history of all the people involved... and the planning meeting we had just had the day before talking about how we'd handle the conference call.

The impression people would have from the PMs is that I have absolutely no respect for xxx while in fact just the opposite is true.  I know he has little experience dealing with executives and he'll now find out the hard way what happens when you don't correct their fantasy.

In a public setting I would have conveyed my feelings a little more politely however I don't find the need to be overly verbal with my colleague in private.

So I always take released private communications with a grain of salt because I know I'm seeing them out of context.

  4. Not so fast, there:

Idina Menzel on 'Frozen' Sequel: "I Have No Idea"

She made the same boo-boo that a lot of people make, including some journalists, in simply assuming that Frozen 2 is in the works without actually knowing any facts about this matter at all (only that Frozen was a mega-hit).

I assume it's being talked about and maybe even scripts are being written... but I assume they are a long way away from officially creating a sequel.

How much more $ is this gonna make worldwide over Christmas with re-releases?

I wish they would re-release it in the USA from Christmas... we'd go see it.

Maybe if it does well in the UK?

  5. This movie was exactly what I expected.

Much like a Transfromers movie I did not expect a movie with a deeper meaning... I expected to be entertained.

And I was.  Non-stop action and a lot of one-liners... some hit and some missed.  But the missed jokes don't really matter because they are on to the next one pretty quick.

Just like Madagascar 3 there were a lot of references to other movies and there is a running 'actor name' gag that took me halfway through the movie before I figured it out.

The Herzog documentary gag at the beginning had me rolling because I had just seen 'The March of the Penguins' not to long ago.

If you don't like the the Penguins of Madagascar TV show you likely won't like this because it really was just the TV show on steroids.

Even though I likely can't fit it into my holiday schedule I'd have no problem paying to see this again in theaters... that means it gets an A from me although its on the A- and pretty close to a B.

After the movie our theater got a cinemascore survey... my first.

  6. I'm not sure if it's a "typical" size -- I think it varies a fair bit, but it's probably a decent sample. (Worth pointing out, though, that there are big LieMAXs... the Chinese, for example, is actually slightly wider than the BFI Odeon shown in the sample... it's just not as tall: ~14m compared to 20m.)

Relativity speaking... my AMC IMAX seems to be that much bigger then the normal screen.

The question will be... will the 70mm film IMAX I'm going to this weekend be as big relative to your diagram.

  7. Until you see it, it's hard to represent on a computer monitor, of course.

This image comparison for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS gives a decent representation, though. Yes, the 35mm image is blown up, but not so dramatically that it feels blurry or super-soft. And here you get a sense of how the aspect ratio will pop TALL for certain scenes and then back to 2.35-safe.

So it the middle one typically the size liemax are?
