    Endgame legs have been disappointing.

If Pika had opened to a much larger amount, then that would be a fair drop. As is stands, from opening $100m+ over IW, by its 3rd weekend they were already on par. I get that there is frontloading and the series finale would have exacerbated it, but still it's a fantastic movie and it is just dropping off at a rather rapid rate and will now come in far below TFA

Perhaps, there is indeed a capacity audience over a movie's entire run. I really can't believe that more people would've seen the awful TFA, but its amazing release date had ensured near $750m by holiday's end which would have probably captured the masses who never watch movies.

At least EG will beat Avatar WW to make up for this loss to an inferior and distinctly average product.

Old timer from the bom forum telling it like it is. No wonder you are also not posting much here too.

I think the streaming bubble is going to pop and collapse soon honestly.

Yeah with Disney+ coming with a bunch of MCU and Star Wars huge budgeted shows, Amazon spending a gazillion $$ on a LOTR show (among other things) and Netflix continuing to expand worldwide (with actual worldwide content) , the collapse is just around the corner.

The truth is that the streaming domination hasn’t even properly begun yet. Oh and the streaming services are actually the biggest reason that piracy is DECREASING. I mean you need what to have Netflix and amazon and Disney+ , less than 30$ per month for tons of content.

BvS was bad but at least it had some entertainment value in parts.

SMH was just bland AF, which is a worse sin in my book.

The last FFH trailer looks to follow the same course.

Well I am willing to bet that the GA will disagree with you and that will be shown at the box office. HC was competent and serviceable, BvS was horrible.

So people mainly want to to see bigger than life movies at the cinema. Makes sense as you might just as well see anything else comfortably in your home, but a good spectacle requires the big screen.

Thank you. It is only natural, with the huge advancement both in home theater equipment and streaming services.

So end game is 300 million away from passing Avatar. It's got at least 130 million more here which would make it around 170 more overseas is what it means. It should pass it but it's a lot closer or tighter than I thought it would be.

The way you describe it, it seems like a breeze. 170 million more after an 105 million weekend seems quite easy, even with competition (and the first true competition for it overseas is the Aladdin film not John Wick because John Wick films are extremely weak overseas).

I predicted about a month or two ago that Endgame would suffer the DH2 effect, where it would be a critically acclaimed film that would nonetheless be very front loaded. Looks like I was on to something, given that the movie is now falling behind TFA, despite having a significantly (and I do mean significantly) higher OW. They called me a mad man...

Nobody called you a madman and it still has a good chance at having better legs than DH2, nevermind that the actual box office size of the movies is completely different. DH2 is tiny compared to EG.

Endgame made me retroactively appreciate the breakneck pace/this-is-a-crisis feeling of IW more.

IW is simply better. EG is way different to what I imagined it to be and please no more box office comparisons to prove that EG is better. The fact that EG did so good out of the gate is BECAUSE IW was so good. (like a matrix->matrix reloaded situation just on a much bigger scale). IW was a comic book fan’s dream come true, the fact that EG might have satisfied the critics more was actually worrisome to me before I even watched it.

Disappointed that Shazam could not recover once AEG hit it. Rampage behaved differently last year. Shazam will barely get to 140 dom. Good compared to the prod budget (100) but underwhelming for sure. The global cume will cross 360 (or already has) and considering China is a very small part with dom being heavy it will ensure great returns.

How does a 360 million worldwide gross for a movie with an 100 million production budget+i would assume a decent marketing budget ensures great returns ?

    Those OS numbers are horrific.

I'm at a loss to understand why or how.

How does Pokemon Go make billions of dollars and have hundreds of millions of downloads and no one is interested to see the film? And it's not like it looked terrible.

Personally I don't really like the movie, but the facts are that for however good the trailer seemed to be, it didn't translate to butts on seats. Why? The quality of the movie itself is irrelevant for OW but how did that marketing not get people to come watch it?

Any ideas? Did EG use up all the household's disposable income?

I think that this particular videogame franchise just isn’t suited for movies.(neither are stuff like sonic btw)

Just for the information of those interested in the #1 worldwide spot you should know Endgame will have to put a serious gap between itself and Avatar if it wishes to keep it's place above Avatar.

Jim is asked: When Titanic hits theaters again in December, will you go see it?

Yeah, I want to see it in its entirety. I want to bring family and friends to see it in HDR. . . . Seeing a film that everybody knows, but seeing it in HDR in 3-D with proper light levels on a Dolby Vision laser projector—it’s really a glimpse of the future. . . . We had the whole film remastered in HDR, and it’s stunning. It’s beyond 70 millimeter, it’s beyond any format that you’ve seen before. What we’re trying to do is get Paramount and Fox to support the rollout of the Dolby Vision cinema project. It occurred to me, hey, we’ve got a movie that’s an evergreen that people love, why don’t we slam it into theaters and let people see it, not in a way it should be seen, but a way far beyond what any movie looks like right now, other than some new films are being authored in HDR? Obviously the [new] Avatar films will be [in Dolby Vision] as well, and in fact, we’re also going to do a conversion of Avatar to HDR. We’ll re-release that at some point down the line; I want to try to help this rollout of the Dolby cinemas, because I think it’s fantastic what they’re doing.

So now that avatar 2 is at least  2 1/2 years away, you will start focusing on a supposed rerelease of the first avatar ? Damn.....

I think that many people will agree with my assessment. IW it's just better in every respect: a) Thanos, a great  villain, as good as Darth Vader. b) Great action set-pieces where the viewer clearly understands what is going on and with real consequences. c) Great management of several characters. d) Better pacing. e) Better dialogues, script and jokes. f) Much better CGI.

Endgame, even though adequate in itself, feels more like an anti-climax by comparison. I am sure many viewers agree with this evaluation.

Edit: The reduction of Thor into a comic relief cliche doesn't help either.

You are correct but don’t try to fight the mob here, you will lose. Matrix reloaded did MUCH better than matrix, the POTC sequels did better than the first film e.t.c that doesn’t mean that they were superior films.
