  1. Armie Hammer has a great performance under his belt (TSN) at least.
  2. Interstellar will probably lose out on some casual date night people. Die Mannschaft is more of an event film. I think it won't have a huge impact on Interstellar in the long run since it will be on TV soon anyways.
  3. The world cup film opens in 2 weeks.. I imagine that will be huge since the 2006 one did so well (and they didn't even win that year).
  4. Exactly, he's not great thespian but he's popular with audiences (especially women) and he even has some critical support after 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike. I think Tatum would've been spared the awful reviews that Hunnam got (which were truly terrible).
  5. Cruise was originally considered for Elba's role but I really think Hunnam was the problem. He's supposed to be that hot leading man that gets girls to the theaters.. and he's just an empty vacuum.
  6. Steam punk would not be right for this movie.. Del Toro used The Innocents and The Haunting (the original) as inspiration. I think it's going to be very classic.
  7. Well in Hollywood, two gingers = automatically related.
  8. Del Toro's best stuff takes place in period settings though! Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone are like his two most acclaimed films.
  9. "Turn of the century" usually refers to 1900-ish, at least in popular use. Other stuff we know: -Wasikowska plays a young author who discovers that her charming new husband isn't who he appears to be. Given Hunnam's quotes, I'd wager Cumberbatch is the husband while Hunnam is probably a friend who has a crush on her. -Cumberbatch and Chastain are playing brother/sister from an aristocratic family. -First part of the film takes place in America, then moves to England. Also it starts out as a love story but then becomes dark. -It's R-rated.
  10. http://collider.com/charlie-hunnam-pacific-rim-crisom-peak-interview/ He's said this a few times in multiple interviews... clearly he's kind of excited about playing the nice guy for once. lol.
  11. It's being talked about a lot on this PR press tour. Mostly by Hunnam who can't seem to keep his mouth shut about playing against type lol. Del Toro also described the film and compared it to Wuthering Heights (but with ghosts) and Daphne Du Maurier.
  12. Well, Hunnam said he's playing the sensitive/smart guy who pines after Mia's character while Cumberbatch is playing the charming ladies man. You definitely can't accuse Del Toro of typecasting, that's for sure!
  13. I do think Cumberbatch and Chastain have the showier roles in this.. At least from what we know, sounds like Wasikowska and Hunnam have like the more passive/generic roles. Chastain in particular could be all sorts of crazy lol.
  14. I've heard pretty polarizing things about him in SoA. Some think he's good, others say he's still boring. Nicholas Nickleby was so long ago and all I remember from that film was Anne Hathaway of all people.
  15. Anyways the one I'm more worried about for this film is Charlie Hunnam. He's getting pretty crappy reviews for PR and he just seems super boring/bland. Sure the writing isn't that strong for actors in PR but Idris and Rinko are at least getting ok reviews and seem to bring something extra to their roles.
  16. What's with all the Wasikowska hate? I think she's one of the most talented actresses of her generation. She does tend to sort of gravitate to this type of role but she was also brilliant on In Treatment and almost made Alice in Wonderland tolerable. Definitely fits in with Crimson Peak better than that Emma Stone who should stick to comedy. Anyways, this movie sounds really interesting and is my main reason for hoping that Pacific Rim does well so Del Toro can do what he wants.
