  1. That would be the upper bound.£8m-10m seems to be the range.

Agreed. Should not drop below that after such a strong Wednesday.£8M would be fantastic and £10M would be just amazing but I am thinking aorund £8M is a safe bet. Will definitely be a £7M+ OW but I hope it is over £8M.
  2. I say £40M for Ted. It will have nothing but legs.

I think that is too high, I can see maximum £30M if the OW is as big as expected.

I'd say mid £20s is a good bet right now though.

Indeed, around £24M sounds reasonable at the moment. That would be around $37.3M which would beat The Hangover's gross and that would be impressive.
  3. Probably waiting until tomorrow so they can report $600m worldwide, since it will reach that number today. I don't think they reported anything for Monday and Tuesday overseas last week, did they?

EDIT: Just checked last week's posts and we did not have any update from the $88m opening until late Wednesday night when Hollywood Reporter said it was at $110m through Tuesday. So maybe we will get an update sometime late tonight.

I guess no midweek number this week...will have to wait for weekend OS gross probably now.
  4. I wonder how this'll do in the UK.It opens on the 13th right after the olympics finishes and has a 7 day opening, in the middle of the summer holidays.PIXAR films are always very popular here. Some of them open hugely, some of them open quietly, but they all end up with good totals. I expect Brave will open well, but nothing spectacular.Tangled opened to £5.1m in 3 days. Brave gives me similar vibes and with a week-long opening, it'd be very surprising to see it fall below £7m at least.

And it has a good run with IA4 winding down and The Lorax won't be much competition. So Brave has a good family audience waiting. It helps the UK loves Pixar too! :D
  5. UK, Germany and Russia open this week and this weekend's OS gross for Ted will give a good idea of what the film will end up grossing OS.The OS release has really been strung along though, France won't get Ted until October!

  6. Might be being to optimistic lc6 high 7 with previews TDKR around 4m coming weekend

Would be great to open that high and it could but I think lower around £5M/£6M with previews. Hopefully TDKR has a bigger 3rd weekend than £4M though I don't mind too much as it will be doing a lot of mid-week business with holidays started now.

    Some perspective on the Australian opening of Ted converted to £. Thu-Sun is the normal 4 day weekend.Preview Weekend(28/6-1/7)Fri-Sun of limited screenings-£2.95m. 2nd place behind IA4's opening weekend.1st Weekend(5/7-8/7)Normal 4 day weekend-£5.87m. 1st place with TASM in 2nd on £3.65m2nd Weekend(12/7-15/7)Normal 4 day weekend-£4.49m. 1st place again.Ted is now at AUD31.181m or £20.9m

I can see Ted in the UK matching the Australian success for sure.
  7. And that is with the Olympics hurting it over the last 3 days of the 10 day total. Pretty good overall.

Indeed, even more impressive when you factor in Olympics. Shows how great TDKR is doing in the UK!By the way, it is the fastest grossing film of 2012.
  8. Hangover was an unknown quantity whereas Ted has Seth Macfarlane which will draw in fans of his work. A £5m opening would be on par with The Dictator.

True, I expect it to beat The Hangover. However I compared them as they are both original US comedies with a 15 rating.Due to Family Guy's Seth Macfarlane as well as Wahlberg/Kunis; I too expect a £4-5M opening with great legs due to good WOM. Though it could open higher!
