  5. The problem is Lionsgate answers more to investors/shareholders than other studios, as the studio itself is essentially the publicly traded company as opposed to subsidiaries/daughter companies of conglomerates like TimeWarner etc. Hence a lot of the hyperbole from their part. Aside from the R rating and how it's an original IP, John Wick IMO has far far more potential to be a good franchise for them than PR.
  6. RT @deadpoolmovie: Happy birthday, @LeslieUggams! Our love for you is blind. https://t.co/bM6Kyg29fZ

  10. Interesting CW v BvS comparison: http://www.audienceseverywhere.net/mean-film-make-sense/ A BATTLE OF THE SENSES: CIVIL WAR’S LOGICAL SENSE V DAWN OF JUSTICE’S EMOTIONAL SENSE this comment killed me though
  11. RT @NickdeSemlyen: A+ fact: Die Hard was originally the title of The Last Boy Scout. Joel Silver nicked it for what was then called Nothing…

  12. Pretty solid. Sure it's definitely the weakest of the 3 prequels but idk much about why the critics were slamming it that much. It's not the best, could have been done better in places (Singer mostly on autopilot here) but it's solid and very comic-booky, more than DOFP or FC I felt. Think of it as the SPECTRE to DOFP's Skyfall and FC's Casino Royale so to say. The good: - score!! Ottman delivers, a welcome return to the themes and ideas and now-new traditions (re-)established with DOFP. - Visuals were sweet in IMAX - Fassbender early on - McAvoy as always great, some hilarious stuff early on too. - A certain confrontation sequence near the end I loved - Quicksilver! Loved seeing him more used in this! - Sophie as Jean, consider me very intrigued and looking forward to seeing more of her - More Rose Byrne in everything please - Kurt was cool if slightly underused - JLaw wasn't as bad/phoned in as I feared, she does sound a bit like she's done with it all though early on. The meh: - the other new mutants incl Psylocke and Storm, just nothing much if at all. - Apocalypse didn't make that much of an impression unfortunately while being incredibly at first. Slightly disappointed - Great beginning while pacing/structure began to sort of mess about in middle/end The WTF: - post credits scene but I think I need to read up on that. - that cameo *cough* that was awkward to watch especially *that* part, like really? All in all, it's still pretty good, very very enjoyable watch, just don't go in expecting something on the level of pushing boundaries like the previous two. Guess that sort of disappointment is what set critics against it so much? 7/10
  13. This is so damn good. Favourite film of the year so far. Absolutely hilarious stuff - need to watch it with a good crowd as that enhances the experience so much, like it did for me here. There are parts where the plot doesn't make much sense and still don't walking out - but it's so (I know it's a dirty word now lol) damn fun you just roll along. Crowe and Gosling were absolutely hilarious, with the former being more subdued and snarky while the latter just goes completely OTT (although the absolutely hilarious I'M ALLIIIIIIIIVVVVVEEEE doesn't make it unfortunately) - can we sign him up for the eventual Anchorman reboot/prequel? MVP was Angourie Rice who played off Gosling really well, Basinger isn't in it a lot at all actually. But yeah the real star here is the script. Basically - go see it asap. Then as Black says, text a local friend and a friend in another country telling them to see the film and do the same. And so on. And I need to watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang now. 8.5/10 There was also a pretty sweet Q&A with Black and Silver afterwards - they're both really darn funny themselves, they talked loads about previous work, how Black actually came up with the title Die Hard (which was the original title for The Last Boy Scout but Black didn't like it so he let Silver use it for what became Die Hard), about how Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was originally meant to be something else entirely, the Predator film, I asked them about the viral videos they did for this film (spoiler alert: they were Gosling's idea, especially the one from last night).... Empire Magazine's gonna have a podcast up with the full Q&A soon. Was really great to see and listen to them in person.

  16. I see your point haha but still - that logo is genuinely fuck ugly compared to the others. absolutely hideous. MICHAEL BAY WOULD NEVE- oh wait he's directing this
  17. I am - at least the previous logos looked at least somewhat aesthetically pleasing (especially the AOE one) but dear god this last one looks like a kid's movie with some edgy texturing
