  1. There may still be hope...

I just talked to Amy an hour ago. She wants to put that movie out. What do I do? My partner Grant Heslov and I had the conversation with her this morning. Bryan and I had the conversation with her last night. Stick it online. Do whatever you can to get this movie out. Not because everybody has to see the movie, but because I’m not going to be told we can’t see the movie. That’s the most important part. We cannot be told we can’t see something by Kim Jong-un, of all f*cking people.

#BREAKING Sony deciding not to move forward with planned Dec. 25th release of "The Interview" after majority of theatre chains pull the plug

    http://www.thewrap.com/sony-scraps-the-interview-release-we-have-decided-not-to-move-forward/

“In light of the decision by the majority of our exhibitors not to show the film The Interview, we have decided not to move forward with the planned December 25 theatrical release. We respect and understand our partners’ decision and, of course, completely share their paramount interest in the safety of employees and theater-goers.

Sony Pictures has been the victim of an unprecedented criminal assault against our employees, our customers, and our business. Those who attacked us stole our intellectual property, private emails, and sensitive and proprietary material, and sought to destroy our spirit and our morale – all apparently to thwart the release of a movie they did not like. We are deeply saddened at this brazen effort to suppress the distribution of a movie, and in the process do damage to our company, our employees, and the American public. We stand by our filmmakers and their right to free expression and are extremely disappointed by this outcome.”

The country's top five theater circuits have decided not to play Sony's The Interview, a knowledgeable source tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Regal Entertainment, AMC Entertainment, Cinemark, Carmike Cinemas and Cineplex Entertainment have all decided against showing the film.

Carmike Cinemas confirmed its decision to drop the film on Tuesday. The other chains did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Sony also had no immediate comment.

Belvedere, the world’s original luxury vodka, is delighted to collaborate with Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment to promote SPECTRE, the highly anticipated 24th installment of the James Bond series, due for global release on November 6, 2015.

Belvedere will release two custom made and limited editions to celebrate Bond’s vodka martini ‘Shaken not Stirred’, and its partnership with the 24th Bond adventure, SPECTRE. In an unprecedented move, Belvedere has replaced the iconic Belvedere Palace with the famous MI6 headquarters. Belvedere’s signature blue palette will be switched for a distinctive green, mirroring the secret spy agency’s ink of choice, creating a truly memorable collector’s edition of 100 bottles. A 007 twist will also be applied to Belvedere’s iconic Silver Saber bottles, known for their cutting edge, metallic aesthetic and illuminating technology.

Belvedere’s SPECTRE marketing program will include a global advertising campaign and a wide range of promotion and activation rights around the film. The marketing campaign will be launched as of February 2015, with a strong focus of efforts in on-premise establishments and retail stores across multiple countries. Belvedere is the vodka of choice for tastemakers who Know the Difference, echoing the award-winning campaign promoting knowledgeable choices.

President of Belvedere Vodka, Charles Gibb states: “James Bond is recognized as the most admired and influential tastemaker in the world. We’re delighted that Belvedere will be partnering with SPECTRE, our largest global partnership to date.”

Dwight Caines, president of Theatrical Marketing for Sony Pictures, said: “James Bond’s cool attitude and stylish sophistication have always gone hand-in-hand with his choice of vodka martini. Belvedere is a perfect match.”

    Excellent choice, Mr. Bond

That's another couple million off that budget...

  5. It's in the Sony leaks. It's mentioned as MID $300ms - so more $350m than $300m and there are e-mails back and forth about how Sony wants $100m cut from the budget but Broccoli keeps saying no, except they went $1m cheaper and traded Ejiofor for Scott.

Oh come on, Mendes wanted Scott, Sony wanted Chiwetel and Sony go, oh so he's cheaper too and they go ahead.

  6. I haven't read any of the scripts but I have read a scene by scene breakdown of the movie dated sometime in October. Even with some of the scenes missing from the breakdown and no dialogue the film flows pretty well. The scale of this film is huge. The action set pieces are ambitious and intricate.

I love Skyfall and Spectre is a continuation of the relationships and themes explored in that film. Theme and tone are where Craig's Bond films succeed. They have something meaningful to say about Bond and the world he inhabits.

That's the one I was referring to and it has the revised act 3.

I'm still super excited for this despite spoilimg myself, for me I'm excited to see how Mendes translates the material.

Set photos from London today: http://www.express.co.uk/news/showbiz/546982/Daniel-Craig-Thames-London-filming-James-Bond-Spectre

    EDIT: dammit Burgess :P

  7. 3rd act? Well you know scripts have been worked during filming.

and from what I've read and heard BEYOND that obviously-negatively-spun Gawker article, the first 100 pages are actually pretty damn good, act 3 is expectedly a bit of a letdown but the writers knew about it being a letdown.

    UPD:

    http://www.007.com/statement-on-spectre/

EON PRODUCTIONS, the producers of the James Bond films, learned this morning that an early version of the screenplay for the new Bond film SPECTRE is amongst the material stolen and illegally made public by hackers who infiltrated the Sony Pictures Entertainment computer system.

Eon Productions is concerned that third parties who have received the stolen screenplay may seek to publish it or its contents. The screenplay for SPECTRE is the confidential information of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Danjaq, LLC, and is protected by the laws of copyright in the United Kingdom and around the world. It may not (in whole or in part) be published, reproduced, disseminated or otherwise utilised by anyone who obtains a copy of it. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Danjaq LLC will take all necessary steps to protect their rights against the persons who stole the screenplay, and against anyone who makes infringing uses of it or attempts to take commercial advantage of confidential property it knows to be stolen.

  8. I hope Scott isn't villain because it's just playing Moriarty all over again - playing two iconic villains in British lore? not happening.

Anyway the Craig era seems like a really nice allusion to Nolan's TDK trilogy: CR/QoS were "Begins", setting up characters and overarching threat (Quantum), SF was TDK with being more standalone and a signature standalone villain (Joker/Silva), SPECTRE is the TDKR bringing it (Quantum/SPECTRE) all round.
