CF's performance goes to show how impressive TDKR's OW was.
CF might come very close to THG's opening. In that regard, it's not much different from TDKR's performance, it's just a matter of a few millions plus or minus their respective predeccesors' OW.

Soooo..
67 OD and a 140-150 OW is not disappointing. Tracking and expectations here don't trump history and the fact is no film that has made 400 million in it's first film has ever increased for the second film. People went apeshit because the first blew up but as the saying goes, what goes up must come down. In this case, it's true for both gravity and humongous grossing first films to their second film. I;m not trying to be smug here because you all know I've had some terrible predictions before but when there were thoughts of 80 mill OD, 180 OW and so on, they were completely unrealistic.
Now back to the OD. 67 mill OD is enormous. Have we all really gotten that detached from reality when a 67 mill OD is disappointing? It's massive and there are few films that have done more and for the most part the ones that have are in 3D. I know the loonies feel let down right now, but blame that on unrealistic expectations, not on some ridiculous perceived disinterest in a film.
I have to agree with baumer (a shocker!).

You have always been here.
Oooh, Babylon 5, that deserves a like.

Have to admit, i don't like that one bit. I mean, he was a good villain but that sounds so gimmicky and unneeded.

If he's going to spend a billion on these movies I expect him to at least hire a decent writer this time. It can't cost that much to create a decent script right?
Avatar was so damn banal and the dialogue was just so cringeworthy. Please, an engaging story would be the biggest visual effect he could create.
Avatar WAS engaging, that's the reason why it grossed almost 3 billion and why Cameron's movies in general are as successful as they are.

did someone mention 600m WW. wtf?
more like 400m WW. 180 DOM, 220m OS.
That's about where i have it.

It's an audio-visual feast but i wouldn't call it an event movie. Dunno how to put it, it's too small. I don't expect monster legs.

Some matter more.

The topic of the movie is the major factor here, not the actors.

Just because they needed another space station thus fast forwarded time for a few years doesn't make it sci-fi.

Can you please describe in spoiler tags. I like to prepare for such scenes
You see a guy with a huge hole in his head, basically the whole face is gone. And the camera lingers on him for quite some time.

Guess i missed Clooney's back hairs. Or maybe i'm surpressing the memory.

No i'm saying i thought it would be R-rated because there's one particular nasty scene in the movie.
-
Realistic space movies (not calling it sci-fi ) are not as popular overseas. It won't touch Life of Pi numbers.
-
Surprised that it got a PG-13 rating (because of one scene).

Digged the movie. I liked the sentimental touches. Here they worked, unlike in Elysium. And when the music soars you go "oh, yeah, that's pretty awesome". Unfortunately, i couldn't enjoy the 3D because the 3D sucks in our theaters lately, crosstalk galore. Incompetent fuckers! And they wonder why 3D is losing steam in some corners...

It's not going to change your life. It's just a cool movie.
Pretty much that's how my reaction is gonna read.

I'm proud to say I haven't watched anything since the first teaser
It's taking a tremendous amount of restraint
I haven't either. But in my case it's easy, i'm not eager to see the movie. Which is good, hype is a double edged sword.

Probably this rumor isn't even true.

Ha great picture although i'd hate him to be a Naavi, he will be perfect in a Quaritch style role.
The thing is, once Ahnuld opens his mouth, hilarity ensues. Dat accent! And his acting hasn't gotten better. I don't want Avatar to be unintentionally funny. I'm saying that as a big Ahnuld fan. Plus we already had Quaritch, i don't need Quaritch 2.

And he was awesome in it. But he played a machine, with barely speaking any words.

Latino-Review says Arnie will be the bad guy in Avatar 2
http://latino-review.com/2013/09/exclusive-guess-who-is-gonna-play-the-bad-guy-in-avatar-2/
Please no. I can't imagine him being a convincing baddy.

Yeah, it's going to be a big crowd-pleaser. Very entertaining, lots of action, it's not boring or slow at all, and you really identify with Sandra Bullock.
Good to hear that there's more to it. Not that i can't appreciate a slow movie if the character work is strong but the 1 minute screaming of Bullock in the trailers have been like "whatever" to me.
