How many admission had AUJ on its 2nd weekend?
-
That's a stretch imo.
I'm one of the biggest Cameron fans here but under $535m for the sequel is definitely not a stretch.

Ian wanted to quit The Hobbit. The creative and artistic expression was terrible.
Don't spread lies. He didn't like the green screen work, not working with actors, that's the extend of it. That only applied to scenes with the dwarfs, most of which were shot for the first movie.

Mo cap was all done in NZ in the first one.
Really? I remember differently. Wasn't it Giant Studios which are based in the USA?
-
That's not the budget but the minimal amount they have to spend in NZ to get the full benefits.
-
WETA is at least as good as ILM.

It'll probably be like with the first one, life action and effects (most of them anyway) in NZ, motion capture in the USA.

I take it the motion capture stuff will still be shot in USA, like the first...

baumer is a closet hobbit fan.
-
What? Is baumer.. how are the people called that torture themselves?
-
Too bad Romania's box office is like 0,001% of the total.
Sorry, that was mean...
-
So no increase. Some markets increased slightly, others decreased slightly.
A billion will be difficult to reach.

Male/Female split was 60/40 as opposed to 57/43 for Hobbit 1.Over 25 was 64%, compared to 58% for Hobbit 1.3D was 49%, same as Hobbit 1.
Where are the Legolas fangirls, dammit?
Probably grown up.

I watched DOS in IMAX HFR 3D. It was my first IMAX screening (well, digital IMAX). It was pretty spectacular with one caveat, due to the 2k resolution you can see the pixels, which can be pretty distracting at times.
-
It does not, at least not to the extend some people are claiming. As has been said countless times, the books are written very differently.
-
The LOTR trilogy is 3 books(obviously) weighing it at about 1350-1400 pages. It was made into 3 movies that totaled a little over 9 hours(theatrically). The Hobbit is one book that is about 275 pages. It is being made into 3 movies that will total roughly 7.5 hours.I don't want to blame Jackson, WB did set this trend with HP first after all, but I've seen his King Kong. At this point, they're just enabling him.
The tiresome pages argument which doesn't hold water.

Here's hoping a miracle happens and saturday goes up a lot more (from friday - midnights)...

Star Trek was sooooooo much better then revenge of the sith
Indeed.
I'm not saying JJ is guaranteed to land a homerun with Star Wars but i'm sure it's gonna be better than those Lucas travesties.

-
Wrong. Lucas already killed Star Wars. If anything, JJ will revive it.

I don't think it can hit $80m with a $32m friday. It might drop less than AUJ on saturday but not that much less.
-
ikr?
ppl who accuse PJ of being greedy probs never read his interviews or anything abt him at all
the man is in love with his job & the worlds he creates
he can be OTT for sure but its not out of wanting loads of money
This.
Most of the greedy comments are made out of ignorance. It's the sickness that has befallen the internet - cynicism.

What are we at? 8.8M from midnights? Assuming that 32.5M figure holds, that's basically matching what AUJ did on Friday (minus previews if that still hasn't caught on yet).
8.8M Midnigts
23.7M Friday
28.4M Saturday (+20%)
19.9M Sunday (-30%)
72.0M Fri-Sun
80.8M Weekend
Matching AUJ's multiplier of 4.05 (Fri-Sun) would put it smack on target for 300M.
Well, i hope rth is not overestimating a movie yet again. (i seem to remember that he has been a couple of times recently)
-
The point still stands.
-
under 80 for sure. not enough interest.
270-280m final due to lack of interest
franchise looks done . dont know what wb were trying
What a bunch of horseshit. Sorry.
It'll at least do close to a billion. WB know exactly what they are doing.

I wish Cameron would go back to the time where he was doing a movie every 2-3 years...
