It might, true. But Beauty and the Beast only increased 20% without midnights.Sure it will. This will play like a kids film:11 Friday:12.1 Sat (+10%)8.0 Sun (-33%)31 mill.

Safe House will be a tad bigger than expected, TPM will not make 30m with an 11m friday.

One 30m+ opener, two 20m+ and one 10m+Great for Safe House, too. Three 30m+ openers this weekend.

Let's hope all goes well. It's a dangerous trip...

They recover on the next day.The 60-70% tumbles on Sunday begs the question, why release a movie now? They don't ever recover over the course of their run unless they happen to be Taken.

I read. It's really simple.
Despite reports that the vehicle might be involved in an oceanic sequel to “Avatar,” he insisted that the deep craft had “nothing to do with my feature life”[...]“The only thing it has to do with ‘Avatar,’ ” he said of the vehicle, “is that it’s slowing me down.”

No.Isn`t one of reasons for the dive to get footage for the sequels?
-
Cool, my two favorite directors may be (almost) neighbors.

Funny, i've never sit with my glasses on and thought to myself "ugh, that's a dark picture". Sure, in direct comparison 2D is brighter still, but it's not such a big deal to me.And as i've said, they are working on ways to make it better, i'd guess with trying to put as much light as possible on the screen, so that whith glasses on, the picture has the correct, natural brightness.

I disagree. The best way to watch a movie is in theaters. A classic warrants a re-release. Not to mention there are generations that only with a re-release get the chance to watch them in theaters. There are other good movies in theaters. A 3D re-release for a movie (even a great one) is a stupid idea that needs to die.

Glasses are not going away anytime soon. I don't mind them. That's not to say they aren't working on ways to brighten the picture (in a properly calibrated theater it should be pretty comparatively bright to 2D already but we all know theaters like to cut corners) but you'll still wear glasses, for a long time, in theaters at least.

I can't wait for 48/60fps 3D, which will eliminate motion artifacts (for the most part). It's gonna look awesome! *geeks out*

He was the geek god until he decided to do movies with slightly broader appeal and *gasp* a romance at its core!

He's contradicted himself in the span of a day (two?). All very confusing...Hmm, then again, he could have meant end of 2015 with "four years out" (2012 just started, he might have rounded up), which is in line with his 2nd statement.

Wrong. Unlike movies such as District 9 or Inception it would have gotten a best picture nod even in the old system, unlike those movies Avatar also got nominated for best director and won a bunch of Golden Globes. Yes, a number of movies make a lot of money, like the aforementioned ROTF, and guess what, they don't get any love from the Academy. Whether you deem Avatar worthy is beside the point. The main reasons it was nominated for best picture was because of it's commercial success and the fact that the field was opened to ten because of poor ratings. It wasn't a worthy best picture nominee at all.

I wish Cameron would work a little faster. He's not getting younger.

Well, in the original they were pretty much forced to fight as far as i remember.
-
That's just because media keeps regurgitating the little they know. The producer stated a while back that the water sections will be akin to the flying mountains sections in the original in terms of how much focus they'll get, which means not much. It's not like half of the movie will be underwater, not even close i'd assume. As for this interview, where is it? The link points me to an article referencing that interview, which could be the author making lots of conjectures. I'd prefer reading Cameron's own words. Anyway, something "making him think" doesn't neccessarily mean he's actually changing his approach, he might rethink again. And to be honest, i don't really care as long as what's on screen is good, action or no action.A lot of emphasis has been placed on the underwater angle.
-
Um... you can tell that from what exactly? You seem to have amazing deduction skills. It would surprise me if the sequels won't decrease, no matter what the movie's about. It sounds like it's going to be a much less action-oriented.
