  1. My brother in law is from New Mexico but lives in Iowa. The last time I visited them, I asked him what the best joint was in their town. His flat response: "I don't eat Mexican food in the midwest." The Seattle area has a pretty sizeable Hispanic population so there are quite a few good options around here, thankfully.
  2. Should be TF4. Tammy I could see getting to the upper 20s to low 30s, but TF4 should be in the low-to-mid 30s for the 3day.
  3. Crusts make or break pizzas. You can do all you want with the toppings, but even with the best sauce and cheese and stuff, if your crust isn't up to snuff, the pizza won't be great. A lot of people swear by Zeke's here in Seattle, but I've never found them to be anything more than mediocre because of the crust.
  4. Tangent, but the first post in the thread has been updated with the daily numbers for easy reference, if anyone wants to discuss them. Okay, back to talking about food.
  5. Mmm. Pizza. My first job was at a pizza place and I discovered that jalapeno and bacon is an amazing topping combo. The Seattle area does pretty good pizza. My favorite place is probably this: http://www.therockwfp.com/
  6. Well, there was the fact it was the best reviewed summer film of 2013 or something. Okay, fair enough point. Lindelof is one of the credited screenwriters on STID, though. And I'd agree. Gary Mitchell would have been so much better than Khan. Although it still wouldn't have fixed the plotting issues. I'm willing to give Orci the benefit of the doubt. He and Kurtzman do very well on the fun meter. Sleepy Hollow is pretty terrific, after all.
  7. Wasn't there an interview with Kurtzman who indicated he was on one side where they shouldn't use Khan and Orci and Lindelof were on the other saying they should? Or was it something different?
  8. I think I gave it 3/5 when I first saw it, but the stupid in it is really glaring. I'm actually kinda pissed because I do like Trek and the cast quite a bit, and they dropped the fucking ball big time in the writing department.
  9. STID is pretty bad. It's a film that gets worse with subsequent viewings. All the great action sequences can't overcome the tired, derivative throwbacks. Plus the entire script is a mess, with layered twists that don't make sense, character motivations that aren't explained, and plot elements that undermine the entire worldbuilding when you give them consideration. It's sad how much potential they wasted. 2/5
  10. Didn't they take it away from him in the editing room? Even had Jeff Robinov stepping in to make changes? From what I read, his original plan was considerably more interesting. I've heard the director's cut improves things slightly.
  11. Uhh. I'm definitely not a huge fan of The Avengers, but still, no. GL had a lot of potential, but it's a mess.
  12. Since both films made over $100m, I think it's going to be fine either way.
  13. Better than the first, but probably not much above 100m.
  14. Well, we'll have to see what Paramount reports tomorrow. If they're still correcting for the weekend, it's not going to be 10. 9.5 or so, rather.
  15. If Paramount is skewing the weekdays to correct for the weekend, it should be, what? 9.5 or so as their daily actual?

  17. Yeah. I had the option of either the Theatrical or Extended and Tele said the latter was better, so I went with that. Aw, but you only need like 12 likes to get to 10k.
  18. The movie feels a little weird, nowadays. While there is some action, it's mostly done. The climax scenes of the film are oddly sedate and really gear up the wonder of first contact rather than the excitement. Despite that, it's pretty great. The visual composition is outstanding and Douglas Trumbull knocks it out of the park with the visual effects. Considering the technology available, they are outstanding here. It's rather like looking at the animation in Pinocchio and trying to figure out how they did it, because they hold up so well.
