They were interviewing Vin on the Today Show this morning. He pretty much stated the 10th film is the last, so apparently they may have scrapped the 2-part idea.

Lmao this will be lucky to cross 50M domestically. Gonna guess around 15/40 for now.
Does anyone know if this is in the same universe as Rise of Cobra/Retaliation?
No
Snake Eye's backstory was featured in those two films and it appears to be wildly different in this one.

Disappointed to hear this movie has yet another CGI mess in the third act. I was hoping for a movie that felt more practical like the Mission Impossible films.
I mean, literally every third act battle in the MCU is packed with CGI (even Wandavision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier had CGI heavy finales) so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise.
It's not really a bad thing.

From the tracking here I either see F9 underpreforming or pulling a Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom where everyone thought that it seemed to be tanking but ended up not. Hobbs and Shaw did something like 60+ million opening weekend so I'm expecting around that at the moment.
.....I wish I could word that better.

Sony could have totally pulled a Craft Legacy on Peter Rabbit 2 and just dumped it during the Easter weekend on streaming.

So I guess In the Heights the theaters are a Quiet Place. . . .
I'll leave now. . .

Don't rain on my daughter's parade. Guarantee you I will be seeing that with her in theaters. Better than my little pony 3d though I assume that's coming too
That I hear is a Netflix film.

So they're going for a day and date release with Paramount+

600 would be pretty bad though, I would think?
Eh, at this point, I can't really guess properly. With the pandemic, it's hard to really give a proper number. Every movie is a wild card.

F9 seems like a lost cause. Not feeling it now.
Like how does it feel like a lost cause? I don't understand. It's doing well overseas in a handful of countries, despite the Chinese drop. It might at least do 600 million globally when all said and done.
A Quiet Place 2 was Hollywood's first sign that the box office is on the right path. F9's going to be the real test. If F9 fails, that might make the studios real skiddish over their blockbusters.

If what is going on at my theater is happening on any wide basis at all then the numbers for QP2 are a little skewed. Never on an opening weekend for the main movie coming out that week would I have had to wait two hours to see a movie at its normal price and not have to pay extra because all the current showings were going on at the 21+ section. If that is happening at a lot of other locations then the money QP2 is making is not indicative of how many people are actually going to see it. They are just setting it up to where a larger portion of the audience has to pay more.
Key word MAY 😛

Glad to see this doing solid numbers. This may bode well for Black Widow, F9 and other films

Every negative review only makes my hype for this film stronger.

Where's the trailer?
According to the post above yours, during the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday.

Got more Speed vibes from the bus scene in the trailer than Ant Man, to be honest.

They'll probably work something out, like maybe the theaters will have it so they get a percentage of the film's Premier Access and early digital sales.
It's much harder for them to all boycott Disney because most of their films as of late have been gargantuan hit after gargantuan hit - having a bit of a better track record than other studios that may have a hit then three duds.

With how well Godzilla vs Kong is doing with this hybrid release, this may....may be a good sign for Black Widow, Premier Access price be damned.
If these same day theatrical-streaming releases work like it seems to be doing with Godzilla vs Kong. . I can see this becoming the norm in the near future.

I marathoned through all the major Kong movies (except King Kong Lives because it wasn't streaming everywhere...probably for good reason), and I was really floored at the visuals in the 1933 film. There's so much creativity in the use of stop motion and green screens and the way they cut corners that it's still pretty solid and creative stuff even today.
King Kong Lives used to air on TNT and Turner South (now a defunct channel but always had a terrific movie line up for most nights if you liked 80s-90s B-movies) all the time back in the early-mid 2000s. Actually had the DVD, and might still have it.
Yes, it's really bad, but it's actually rather charming.

It's from the writer of the actual series so that's a plus. Had it on as background noise while doing house work a few years back, it was cute. The film looks to adapt the first season's events.
There's a legitimately creepy episode where the characters go into something like an abandoned orphanage that's overrun with wolves.

Saw it on Disney+ and enjoyed it more than Soul. And yes, it goes without saying it's superior to Tom and Jerry.
The film will likely lose money, but it's not really its fault, or even really the studio's fault. The virus has screwed everything up. Some markets may be slowly starting to rebound, but it's still screwy everywhere. So some may give it more of a pass.

Looks like it might possibly be a heist movie under all that Jokeresque glam and grunge.

I was pretty meh over the teaser but this really won me over.

$200 million+ in China isn't much to scoff at though.
