Disappointed to hear this movie has yet another CGI mess in the third act. I was hoping for a movie that felt more practical like the Mission Impossible films.

I mean, literally every third act battle in the MCU is packed with CGI (even Wandavision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier had CGI heavy finales) so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise.

It's not really a bad thing.

F9 seems like a lost cause. Not feeling it now.

Like how does it feel like a lost cause? I don't understand. It's doing well overseas in a handful of countries, despite the Chinese drop. It might at least do 600 million globally when all said and done.

A Quiet Place 2 was Hollywood's first sign that the box office is on the right path. F9's going to be the real test. If F9 fails, that might make the studios real skiddish over their blockbusters.

If what is going on at my theater is happening on any wide basis at all then the numbers for QP2 are a little skewed. Never on an opening weekend for the main movie coming out that week would I have had to wait two hours to see a movie at its normal price and not have to pay extra because all the current showings were going on at the 21+ section. If that is happening at a lot of other locations then the money QP2 is making is not indicative of how many people are actually going to see it. They are just setting it up to where a larger portion of the audience has to pay more.

    Key word MAY 😛

I marathoned through all the major Kong movies (except King Kong Lives because it wasn't streaming everywhere...probably for good reason), and I was really floored at the visuals in the 1933 film. There's so much creativity in the use of stop motion and green screens and the way they cut corners that it's still pretty solid and creative stuff even today.

King Kong Lives used to air on TNT and Turner South (now a defunct channel but always had a terrific movie line up for most nights if you liked 80s-90s B-movies) all the time back in the early-mid 2000s. Actually had the DVD, and might still have it.

Yes, it's really bad, but it's actually rather charming.

  5. It's from the writer of the actual series so that's a plus. Had it on as background noise while doing house work a few years back, it was cute. The film looks to adapt the first season's events.

There's a legitimately creepy episode where the characters go into something like an abandoned orphanage that's overrun with wolves.

  6. Saw it on Disney+ and enjoyed it more than Soul. And yes, it goes without saying it's superior to Tom and Jerry.

The film will likely lose money, but it's not really its fault, or even really the studio's fault. The virus has screwed everything up. Some markets may be slowly starting to rebound, but it's still screwy everywhere. So some may give it more of a pass.
