From someone who was never into Ghostbusters that much, this looks real good.

Maybe the new cast?
95% of the movie is like the original cast, there's only like three new significant actors, so it's likely not that.

Welcome to the Jungle only did like 70 million or so in China, so it was never a gargantuan hit there. So, if you remove China's gross from the total worldwide gross it would go from 960+ million to a little over 800 million. China was not instrumental with the first film's success.
It does look like the film will drop a bit from the original but if it does 500 million-700 million, it's not that disastrous. If it was 200-300 global then that would be bad.
Just wait for the actual reviews and the people's movie going choices this Christmas season. No one thought Welcome to the Jungle was going to be big either, and it had even less marketing than this and look how well it did.

You read correctly, but I’m being a bit optimistic about legs there.
Play window is the standard month, but it doesn’t really matter. 10 days or 100, people will just stop seeing it.
Edit: Just to be clear, 25ish is the first weekend not the first week.

Not that China serves as a super great indication of DOM, but the details for those who don’t frequent the China section:
Jumanji 2 opened with $39M and ended about $78M
Jumanji 3 has gotten much worse ratings and will probably open about $25M and end with around the first one’s OW, if not lessI'm probably reading this long, but you say its total Chinese box office will likely be 39 million after making 25 million in its first week?
How short is its play window?

Playbombil
Also come next week, I see Jumanji hitting the higher end of expectations. I'm personally predicting 63 million.
Also HOORAY FOR FROZEN!!! MAKE DAT ICE

And there was someone last week saying that they should have made Frozen 2 sooner than they did. . .
And still Frozen makes all the money.

I don't think it will this weekend. The weather here is horrible with freezing rain and snow. So the numbers might be suppressed a little.
Freezing rain and snow? What a perfect day to go see Frozen.

I think Show Yourself competes very well with Let It Go as far as showstoppers go.
The emotional punch and animation in that sequence are top notch.
It's peak Frozen

I couldn't really rank this decade's WDAS films, because outside of the Frozen films and Tangled, the others have just been kinda there for me. Zootopia came close though, loved it when I first saw it, but sorta fell off my radar afterwards.
I guess if I were to try
1. Frozen
2. Frozen 2
3. Tangled
4. The Obvious Testing the Market for a Disney Princess Crossover movie scene in Ralph Breaks the Internet
5. Zootopia
6. Moana
7. Big Hero 6
8. Wreck-it-Ralph
9. The rest of Ralph Breaks the Internet
10. Winnie the Pooh (IT'S FIFTY MINUTES)
Kinda wish they would make more fairy tale esque movies, I did kinda want to see Gigantic before it was cancelled.

Sorry 😌
I'm so happy Frozen 2 is making buckets and buckets of money.
Also, while I probably won't see it because the movie doesn't look like my kind of thing, I'm glad that Knives Out might do well. You could probably pair it with Ready or Not at a home viewing party in a few months.

There was a TV spot during Macy's where the dog character scratches its ass across the floor
Lame humor aside, WHY THE HELL IS IT SO HARD FOR CG COMPANIES TO DO CGI DOGS.

I want to see a Frozen 3 made so I can see more Youtube critics start their videos off complaining that Disney put the Olaf short in front of Coco, you know, a film, owned by Disney, which also owns Frozen so kinda makes sense.
Most negative reviews mention that.
