Literally Stilgar the whole movie. Made for a wonderful hypeman.

    *Paul trips a branch*

Stilgar: A brilliant move! This is exactly what the Messiah would do

Anton Chigurh was the only person in the film who looked to be having an ounce of fun, probably bc he was just waiting for Josh Brolin roll up.

  2. Gadot's Wonder Woman and Momoa's Aquabro are just remarkable missed potential. Audiences responded very well to both of those actor-characters and WB completely belly flopped with their sequels. WW84 should have been out July 2019 and Aquabro 2 the 2021 Christmas tent pole. Aqua2  making the money it did under those conditions is a testament to what it could/should have been.

So now that we have the actuals. It jumped 37% on Saturday and dropped 22% on Sunday. That Sunday number is pretty strong considering it jumped by such a huge amount on Saturday. The Sunday number was almost $1.4 million larger than the "true" Friday number. Pretty damn good. It will be interesting to watch the rest of the film's run.

This is obviously a strong IM. "THIS IS CINEMA" has become a gigantic and legitimate box office draw with the improved screen quality option available.

The entire movie is basically action lol. And you've never been right a about what audiences think about a movie. Wrong this time too.

Child please. It has been a while, I will concede that, but the bolded is crazy.

Holy shit man, it's ok to be in the minority opinion on disliking a film. There is no grand conspiracy of Dune haters pretending to like it to look deep. Even great films don't click with everyone, just move on to the next one.

The movie just came out, I threw my two cents into the active discussion about the films quality, no greater or lesser than anyone else opinion here. :)

Timothe chalment looks and acts like a store mannequin.

A pole, stick skinny version. His fight scenes are ridiculous, Butler would have been a much better choice for Paul.

I’m surprised with Pugh/Zendaya/Butler/Timothee doing all the press that it didn’t have bigger number of 18-24 audience.

Zendaya is by far the most influential of those 4, TC a distant second, and FP/AB do not have of a fanbase.

  5. This is reminder of what colossal grand slams Snyder hit with his casting. Crowe as Jor-el, Costner as Jonathan, and Lane as Martha are all elite choices for the three roles. Morpheus as White was all gold too.

Gunn is on point to go in different, very traditional direction here though. Returning Supes to his roots is basically a reinvention at this point and is what the series needs.

That’s nowhere close to Scorsese demanding $200 million for The Irishman or Flower Moon.

Scorsesee clearly isn't an overly compelling draw these days, have to think the days of his getting blank checks are 100% over.

I really tried to like these 2 Dune movies. I want to. But I just don't.

I respect the craft and that's about it. The rest I just find so drab, bland and dull. I don't care about the characters. Timothee and Zendaya have absolutely 0 chemistry on screen and play more like siblings. I don't care about the story, or find it interesting. I don't even find it visually appealing because of the desert setting.

I let myself buy into the hype for this one and I just walked out confused again. It felt like another part of a story. I thought it would be all the payoff from 1 and make me appreciate 1 more. But I walked out feeling like I got duped into watching a middle chapter.

I kept waiting for these epic action scenes, or for Austin butler character to wow me like people were hyping up. And it just never happened. I ended up looking at those people like Stilgar with over the top glazing.

I'm happy people are enjoying it but it's not for me.

1000%. The film is boring. There is not much action at all. All the big money shots were in the trailer. Butler is in the film for 5 min. Chalamet is wooden as a wall. Zendaya is the only one bringing any real energy, though their romance is historic levels of bad, zero chemistry between them at all.

Feel like this is aa more widely held opinion than some are being open about bc they don't want to be "that guy" or "the girl" but there is no emotional hook to this film at all, legit. zero.

Warner has been cozying up to Nolan lately. They gave him a pretty big royalty payment on Tenet and re-released Tenet in IMAX. Meanwhile I think they have Nolan’s friends like Villeneuve, Iñárritu, and Shyamalan recruiting Nolan to come back to Warner.

The hilarious thing about the situation is Dune Part 1’s release on streaming was a major part of Nolan’s decision to leave, yet the Dune guy is one of the people trying to convince Nolan to move back to Warner. And even funnier is that Shyamalan helped recruit Nolan to Universal, while Shyamalan turned around and moved to Warner! Ridiculous, lol

If Nolan returns to WB, they legit will have an monopoly on the premier modern talent

Well, looks like I’m that guy this time. It pains me to say it, but my first thought as the credits began to roll was, that’s three hours of my life I’ll never get back. It’s just inert. I didn’t feel a thing watching it, or care about anyone. It’s not bad. It looks pretty, the script is serviceable — and some of the changes, like Alia, are probably for the best — the acting is, well, let’s just say Chalmet and Zendaya put an entire career’s worth of longing glances into one movie and I did not buy for one second that they were in love.

Stilgar rocks, tho. He and Gurney felt like the only actual people in the whole thing.

The first one got me excited to see this. This made me not care if there’s a third.

100% QFT, no emotion at all

Honestly i was ready to say "ok that kinda of over acting weird performance of a villain internet loves a lot".

But I have to admit he was really really good. I mean of course the physical transformation helps a lot but the performance has shades and it's never over the top.

    Spoiler

he is basically a gloried cameo, they hyped him as if he would be a kylo ren type presence, yet he has 5 min of screen time

  10. Holy crap what did anyone see in this movie? Sadly I found this to be dreadfully slow. It needed a lot more action. Like Part 1, not sure how much of the mainstream audience is going to find its way to the series through this film. Thank god that Zendaya, Anton Chigurh, and Josh Brolin are able to inject hints of life in this because the vibe so somber and nobody looks like they're having fun, which is a giant problem for a 2 1/2 hour film. There are too many characters that feel pointless. Who on Earth could compare this to icons like THE DARK KNIGHT or EMPIRE STRIKES BACK? The entrainment value just is not there. The first 120 min drag and drag and drag but then the final 40 minutes or so are beyond rushed. The big battle and final fight at the end both fall soo flat.

As others have said, the romance is exceptionally weak and if not for Zendaya's natural charisma, it would have been a total slog as Chalamet is wooden as a wall. Doesn't flash an ounce of the "next Hartnett Leo" charisma he supposedly has. The end is obviously rushed, as was mentioned, but the complete lack of emotional depth to their relationship makes Chalamet randomly proposing marriage to the random girl from the beginning feel like a huge "shrug". Butler and Pugh are also in this movie for a total of like 5 minutes combined. Both are characters are horrifically developed. Butler is like a poor mans Darth Maul.

Wish I enjoyed this more but man this was a colossal nothing burger for me.

Watched Edward Scissorhands last night. UM... WHY HAS NO ONE FORCED ME TO WATCH THIS MOVIE BEFORE NOW??? Big Fish is my favourite movie of all time, so I'm all for sentimental Burton. It's still my #2 Burton (nothing will ever top Ewan McGregor in a field of daffodils) but it's really strong, and the last 30 minutes really, really works. Also, Danny Elfman....?!?!?!?! Ice Dance has got to be one of my favourite pieces of music ever written for a film.

I want this Burton back. Hopefully Beetlejuice 2 is good and has some of his flair from his earlier works. But I really hope he makes something original next. A high-concept fantasy/fairy-tale.

    Edward Scissorhands is a classic.
