  1. Mon-Tue should do slightly less than this weekend, so $9.5 or $10 M. Wed-Friday weren't holidays this week so the drop should be weaker than next weekend's. I'm gonna go with a 20% drop for these weekdays so around $5.5-6 M and a 30% for next weekend given how huge this one was, which, using the $11.1 M figure, would put it just slightly above its opening weekend at around $7.7-7.8 M. Going with the lower end each time, I get $22.7 M...
  2. I found a few japanese sources : http://www.nikkansports.com/entertainment/news/p-et-tp1-20140504-1295499.html http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20140504-00000011-nksports-ent This is the key sentence : 米アニメ映画「アナと雪の女王」の今月1日時点での日本国内での興収が、133億円に達したことが3日、分かった。 Which is basically saying it has passed the 13.3 billion yen mark. I don't see friday being mentioned though.
  3. First time a film would pass that mark since One Piece Z in december 2012.
  4. Indeed. But taking exchange rates into account, today the first one would open with $5.7 million. So it's not as bad as the dollar gap suggests. @Rsyu : Well Roma Bath's first movie having great legs and a good final gross probably helped built the hype for the second movie hence the higher expected opening weekend. I agree about Conan, but I was just pointing out the same thing happened with IM3 last year.
  5. Spanked is pushing it a bit. Also, the last Thermae Romae movie grossed almost twice as much as the last Spider-man movie in Japan. Conan is also a very popular franchise with last year's second weekend beating Iron Man 3's opening weekend. If it has a decent opening and better legs than the previous movie, then it will be fine.
  6. Frozen's 7th weekend. But it's hardly embarrassing given the huge phenomenon Frozen is in Japan. What might be embarrassing will be the weekend gross.
  7. Monday isn't a national holiday per se, Shôwa Day is only tuesday, but some people take the whole of Golden Week off. The next monday, the 5th of may, is Children's Day and that is a national holiday.
  8. Frozen is the only movie in the forecasted top 8 that is not a sequel.
  9. Looking at past years, Conan movies typically drop around 35-40% in the 2nd weekend and increase around 7-8% during the Golden Week weekend. Based on last weekend's numbers, that puts Conan's second weekend between 473.599.380 yen and 513.065.995 yen. Given how big the OW was, I'm going to go with the 40% drop. In recent days, Frozen has been doing around twice as much as Conan in admissions so perhaps a 900-950 million yen weekend isn't out of reach ?
  10. Hello everyone, What LABAS says is true, as several japanese websites confirm : http://eiga.com/ranking/ http://www.kogyotsushin.com/archives/weekend/ http://movie.walkerplus.com/ranking/ They all have Conan at #1 because Japan ranks by admissions. So the average japanese, the local media outlests and perhaps the people running the theaters will just see 'Conan #1, Frozen #2'. And yes, there is also the fact that Conan is issued by Toho. We'd need the screens and seats at other chains to have a better overall view.
