  1. For the record, this is going to be a constant for all studios. I would not be shocked if they reveal in the next month or two that The Bad Guys/DC Super Pets/Puss in Boots 2 get the same treatment on Peacock/HBO Max. Maybe they'll get a little bit better treatment with a day-and-date theatrical release, but this is the future for kids movies now. Which...yeah, conditioning kids to watch stuff at home more will lead to some rough implications 10+ years from now.
  2. You think this now, but Encanto's D+ explosion (and kids/families not giving two hecks about movie theaters anymore) will mean every animated movie that isn't a Lightyear or Frozen 3 will be only on Disney+. Welcome to the future.

  8. I said this before and I'll say it again: AMPAS/Disney/ABC will go HAM on making sure every big mainstream movie will get a Best Picture nomination next ceremony. A Best Picture lineup with Avatar 2, Black Panther 2, Lightyear, Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4, Spider-Verse 2, Top Gun 2, Nope, The Batman, and Mission: Impossible 7 isn't that crazy to think about after how awful this year's ratings will be. Then just sprinkle in some nominations for Robert Pattinson, Dwayne Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, etc. just to be on the safe side. There's no way we'll get to even 8 million viewers with nominations like this.

  13. Honestly, On Demand, regardless of how early it comes, doesn't really impact the holds as much as you might think. I looked at it a couple months ago, and there's nothing that abnormal for most films. And even the heavier drops can be explained by reception/WOM (F9, Respect), or heavy competition (Free Guy's first three weekends after PVOD were when Venom/Bond/Kills dropped). Maybe Sing 2 is an outlier, but this isn't an Encanto case, since they're not giving the movie away for free.
  14. Well yeah, but nobody is expecting that. There's nobody saying "Batman's awareness is on the level of Spider-Man, therefore it'll make as much as Spider-Man". The only person doing this is CJohn, and it's debatable if he's really a person. Like with every tracking source, people understand outside circumstances and that comparisons aren't 1:1. Still, Quorum does indicate people know Batman is coming out and a lot of people are excited for it. Did Joseph Kosinski piss on your porch or something? You keep saying TG2's gonna be this epic failure.
