Like WB, I'm doing my FYC decade by decade, highlighting the more obscure features people may overlook. I don't think I need to FYC Bambi. You've seen it, you know it's good. FYC (The 1940s) I know this is a pretty famous film, but still one that deserves attention. Even compared to its sequel, there's no other film that's like this. It's a brilliant experiment combing the joy and awe and wonder of Disney animation with incredible music composed by Leopold Stokowski. Every animation segment is a delight, with Dance of the Hours and The Nutcracker Suite being my personal favorites, with even the intermission being wondrous material. It's an anomaly of cinema and it's all the better for it, frankly. It's an odd hodgepodge of a package feature. There's shorts themed around Latin American culture, there's musical numbers where Donald Duck and Brazil parrot Jose Carioca are hanging out in South America with live-action actors, a rooster named Panchito from Mexico takes Donald to Mexico where he tries to flirt with live-action women, ending with a surreal music video where everything goes off the rails. It's an absurd and surreal voyage through unique locales and vistas of South and Central America that I weirdly love despite being so disjointed. It's got gorgeous colors, great gags, educational in some parts, then teaches nothing in others. It's a film where it feels like it was made up as it went along, and I kinda love it for that. It's an amazing, unpredictable thrill ride where we see talented animators do what they do best. You don't see that even in some of Disney's narrative features and it's so much fun all throughout. Featuring two animated segments based on two classic pieces of literature, both are great on their own. The Wind in the Willows has some great animation and fun characters, with an amazing climax full of laughs and madcap wit,. It's a great goofy experience that is a stark contrast to the other segment. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is also a great time with great character designs and environments, with great atmosphere. The autumn mood is all throughout the picture and the climax with the Headless Horseman is a fantastic one. A perfect balance of comedic and terrifying that is a great introductory piece to one of my favorite horror stories ever. It's also a great watch with Halloween on the horizon.

Kind of realized something: what happened to the Lopezes? You would think after they wrote the songs for the biggest Disney movie ever, the most famous Disney song ever, they would be attached to every future Disney project like Alan Menken was in the 90s. But all they have done since then was a song for Coco and a song for WandaVision. And it's not like either of them are busy with other stuff. I guess Lin-Manuel Miranda's the bigger name, so Disney wants to have him in their movies instead? I dunno, it's weird.

There's been this really weird, really racist connotation from a few select users here that because one of the actors in The Marvels is Muslim, that it will cause the film to bomb. I really, really, really, really, really, really don't like how this is popping up as a recurring issue. And I really, really, really, really, really hope nobody here ever brings up something that stupid and idiotic here ever again. Hint hint hint hint hint. T_T
