Neither movie was polarizing? Spider-Verse just kind of came out at the perfect time and was kind of undeniable. (Plus maybe some of the voters thought it was a Disney thing because it had Spider-Man lol)
1. Banshees
2. Top Gun
3. Tar
4. Everything Everywhere
5. The Fabelmans
6. Avatar
7. Elvis
Haven't seen the other three yet, though I think the only one I see being worse than Elvis is Triangle of Sadness. We'll see when I see it of course.
Honestly I like Hirsch getting in more. His brief scene was one of my favorites in that movie. It's also oddly symbolic when it comes to what happens to Dano's character.
Was in the TGM train for the longest time, but I'm going all in on Everything Everywhere now. That was the film that got the most applause throughout the entire nomination livestream. Pretty sure it even got into some categories nobody expected it to. It's going for the gold IMO. Probably going to sweep all the above the line categories apart from Supporting Actress.
And honestly, within the Animated Feature category, I feel Turning Red is the best of the bunch anyways, so I feel like this inevitably going to the Disney film (come on guys, you know that's going to happen)...I'm cool with that.
Bad performance in a bad movie, but it's not De Armas' fault. It's just because Andrew Dominik is a moron who blatantly refuses to give Norma Jeane a character outside of "idiot who gets abused by men", because he can't see a woman as anything but a vessel to be controlled by other men. But it's a real-life person and that will get you far for even the worst performance.
Very annoying Deadwyler got excluded for that mess.
Not a Disney movie. It won't happen. The Disney movie always wins, Animation Twitter will cry about it for a week, and then we all move on with our lives.
Lol at Maverick getting screenplay, but that also means The Whale didn’t get nominated, so I’ll take it happily.
Also nice that Hsu didn’t get forgotten
