  1. Thankfully didn't get 80 for Brady at either of my Puss showings. But I did get Book Club 2. I know Universal has to put something there apart from Mario, but it's still weird to see a trailer that makes a reference to Christain Grey before a movie for 7 year olds. I'm just going to hope these kids think he's like a Sesame Street character that sings songs about colors or whatever and it all goes over their heads.

  3. Anyways, I wanted to do something fun and do a non-scientific, very basic look at the Best Picture nominees playing at my local theater (and also Living and The Whale for fun since they also got major nominations). Keep in mind I did this in the span of 20 minutes with one theater, for movies that will all likely have big walk-ups, and all these movies have a wide variety of theater locations this weekend. So do not take this as gospel for what films will definitively make more this weekend. This is just something fun I wanted to do. 1. Avatar: The Way of Water: 69 tickets (hahaha) with 17 showtimes 2. Everything Everywhere All at Once: 14 tickets with 3 showtimes 3. Women Talking: 8 tickets with 4 showtimes 4. The Fabelmans: 2 tickets with 2 showings 5. The Whale: 2 tickets with 3 showings 6. The Banshees of Inisherin: 0 tickets with 2 showings 7. Living: 0 tickets with 4 showings
  4. I really hoped people would wake up and not submit themselves to what is obvious Tom Brady propaganda. But alas, we don't live in a perfect world.

  7. I always hate this "bad movies succeeding means more bad movies are made" fallacy. No filmmaker or producer or even executive, including the ones that you hate, set out to make a bad movie. Every single one is a total crapshoot from greenlight to post-production.
  8. Do you really think Cameron cares about that stuff this much? This movie has already made more than $2 billion. Everybody who wanted to see the movie in 3D has likely already seen it in 3D. Probably several times in fact. And I'm sure it'll still play in front of some 3D screens anyways. I know Cameron's an egotist and greedy, but I doubt he's crying himself to sleep over losing 3D screens to a movie where he's already made gobs of money from. Besides, even if Way of Water follows the same trajectory the first movie did at the same point in time (which it won't, because its legs aren't as strong as Avatar's), it would be at around 13.5M or so. And it's not gonna be anywhere close to that, especially with no President's Day that weekend. It's extremely unlikely it'll be at double digits that weekend. So is Cameron really losing that much money because of that pesky boat movie? No. So this ain't a big deal.
