  1. Nah. These Fandom Menace folks, or at least the big ones, know what they're saying is stupid and are pulling sources out of their ass. They're all just grifters trying to capitalize on nerd rage or are trying to promote neo-Nazi propaganda to unsuspecting teenage boys. It's all just a ruse from people who unironically watch "sjw feminazi gets rekt" videos to promote hate speech, not some sort of concern about the sanctity of fanboy movies or whatever. Though the knives being shown towards this is a little surprising to me and I'm still kind of confused why these folks are targeting this. Is it just because Pattinson did Twilight all those years ago?
  2. I'll admit I don't have a strong pulse on horror fandom but Halloween 2018 just kinda feels like one of those big hits nobody talks about anymore. I can see 40M+, but above Quiet Place 2 just seems like a stretch.
  3. Yeah, the last Halloween almost entirely used nostalgia to hook in the masses. You can't really do that a second time and there doesn't seem to be much of a hook on this new one. Wouldn't be surprised if Halloween Kills did like 35M or something for its OW
  4. Even then, there's a pretty large shared audience here. Just seems like both movies were canceled out a bit from their true potentials IMO
  5. I'm well aware both movies are doing really well, but it still feels really odd to me how Quiet Place and Conjuring went back-to-back like that. If you moved Conjuring back a couple weeks, it probably would have had a stronger opening. Quiet Place might not have that much of a better hold, but it could have still stayed above 20M. Just seems weird

  7. So? You can still a movie in theaters with this strategy. And people are clearly still interested in a theatrical option
  8. Wouldn’t you want these movies to do well if you want them to stay in theaters? If they bomb, Warner will just think “guess people don’t like going to the movies. We’ll just put all our movies on HBO Max then”
  9. And really guys, Quiet Place 2 is holding fine. Memorial Day openers typically drop more than 50% on weekend 2. Even if it drops to just $20M, a 58% fall is still okay, especially when another horror title is reaching 25M. It's a better hold than Solo, Pirates 5, and Apocalypse, and it's on par with family openers like Alice or Tomorrowland. There's also zilch in terms of direct competition until F9. It'll be fine.
  10. That Spirit movie has the look and feel of a cheap direct-to-video sequel from 2006. Even the animation isn't that much better than what came out from that era. Hilarious this is playing on the big screen while Mitchells and Luca are relegated to streaming.
  11. 88% of Quiet Place 2's opening weekend was 17-44. Don't really see how this has family appeal.
  12. I can't believe this site is now being run by somebody with COOTIES

  14. Ugh. Keep forgetting about Canada. Then yeah, 11.5M is about right, which is still sub-50, so very very good stuff
  15. If it follows Aladdin's second weekend holds: 3.283M Fri 4.793M Sat (+46%) 3.834M Sun (-20%) 11.91M Weekend (-45%) Its Friday is already holding better than Aladdin's and Conjuring isn't commanding the same screen space as Godzilla, so it could hold better, but that weekend number sounds about right
