  2. Cocomelon might end up stealing Patrol's thunder tho. Don't know if that will translate to a movie as easily, but I would love to hear Wheels on the Bus on IMAX surround sound.
  3. The thing that bothers me about The Protege is that Michael Keaton has top billing in the trailer despite the fact that Maggie Q is the main character. How much money did Keaton demand so that he would be the first name listed?
  4. Stealing this from @Ezen Baklattan, but Reminiscence, if that 2.4M opening from Deadline holds, will topple Rhythm Section to become the worst opening ever for a movie in 3,000+ theaters. For all we know, it could go even lower, and then we're approaching Friend Request/Life Itself levels.
  5. Well yeah both Shyamalan and Peele have fanbases, and both movies will do fine financially as low-budget titles, but it's not like Old opened that high. I've talked about this last week, but PAW Patrol is arguably the biggest non-Disney thing for little kids right now, at least in the States. They're all over retail shelves and my sister used to work at a daycare and she told me that those kids were crazy for those puppies and especially their toys. The battles of these four-year-olds over who gets to play with what were apparently quite intense, though she did get a few good opportunities to teach her kids the value of sharing.
  6. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I didn't expect much from Candyman even back in 2019. Peele's name aside, Candyman was never that popular of a horror series to begin with (I never even heard of it prior to this new movie's announcement) and while I think the film looks good, nothing about the trailers make me think it was going to be some massive breakout. When the trailer dropped, more people were talking about Nia DaCosta's name not being credited on the trade's headlines than the movie itself IIRC (which I fully supported and was all for I might add), so I don't really think people were buzzing that much for the movie itself. Could very well be wrong though, and I'm rooting for it regardless
  7. A pity. Tully and especially Young Adult are phenomenal. Young Adult in particular has quickly become one of my favorite movies of all time.
  8. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-13 and Counting Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 0 54 941 10896 8.64% Total Seats Sold Today: 54 Comp 1.199x of F9 T-13 (8.51M) 0.492x of Black Widow T-13 (6.49M) 3.422x of The Suicide Squad T-13 (14.03M) I'll update w/ MTC3 count tomorrow monring 218 tickets from MTC3
  9. Wish I liked this more than I did. Rebecca Hall is astounding and the sound design is incredible, barring one obnoxiously loud music cue that gave me a headache. But while the screenplay isn't bad, and there's some good scares here, I don't think it gels as well as it should have. The film ends with the main theme supposedly being about depression and it doesn't feel like it earned it? By the time we get to the climax, I was thinking to myself, "oh I guess that's what the movie is about?" It's also weird how the mirror world is implied to be metaphorical and as if it's really happening? If it was one or the other I would have been fine, but it felt like the movie was trying to have it both ways and it's just kinda weird.
  10. I saw a bunch of Gen Zers dunk on Girl Meets World a couple months ago, and it led me to these clips How Disney Channel executives looked at these scripts and said to themselves, "yeah this is fine to air" will forever baffle me
  11. I mean, I'm sure somebody here will find themselves watching this for some reason
  12. There's actually a very solid amount of Mandarin throughout the film. I'd say like 15% of the dialogue is Mandarin? I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but there are still a couple scenes where no English is said at all. It's actually kind of nice to see from what is still a Hollywood production.
  13. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-14 and Counting Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 0 54 887 10896 8.14% Total Seats Sold Today: 58 Comp 0.479x of Black Widow T-14 (6.33M) 3.373x of The Suicide Squad T-14 (13.83M) I didn't track F9 on T-14, so I'm skipping that, but it'll return tomorrow. I'm also ditching the "First X Days" stuff for Black Widow, as it'll get things more convoluted. Either way, the big fan rush has finally died down, but both current comps should continue to rise, as Shang-Chi closes the gap and because TSS really sold poorly up until the reviews dropped later on in its sales cycle.
