There's just too much opposing evidence for me to say otherwise. So I guess I'll follow the crowd and go with high-30s.

  3. I definitely agree with you there. I made a club a while back that everything that wasn't Disney or DC (I thought Birds of Prey was gonna be big, and...well...) would do sub-250M, and I'm still sticking by that. I at least wanted some form of optimism out there going into the new year, and show people it won't be that bad.
  4. Like obviously Disney's not gonna be as big as they were this year, but their crop still looks good. I think doubting Marvel is kind of a fool's errand, so I'd be very surprised if Black Widow goes below 300M, and #InZhaoITrust for The Eternals. Mulan's getting dinged by the Hong Kong stuff, but it's still looking to be huge. Their animated stuff is so far landing in their marketing IMO. It'll at least be nice to see some original stuff land in the top 10 this year. Really, if everything goes right, I can see Soul do something like 400M. Wonder Woman will be huge too. Wouldn't surprise me if it gets to like 450M or something. Top Gun 2 will get seen by every dad on the planet. It also helps that it's not like Terminator or Charlie's Angels where a bunch of crap movies or shows damaged the property. Trolls 2 should also see a decent increase (I'm telling you, kids are crazy for those little guys). The No Time to Die trailer was kinda lame, but it can probably coast on being Craig's swan song I guess. In the Heights and West Side Story should both play well with their demos and keep the musical success train going. Fast 9 and Venom 2 will drop, but should still do okay. Tenet is probably going to be in the vicinity of 200M. And I guess Sopranos nostalgia will be a thing. I'm only optimistic for Dune because my baby's in it, but I can see it come out of nowhere and surprise people. Otherwise...yeah, 2020 is going to be a yuck year.

Reviews really killed the hype here.

  8. Also, I looked up "star wars", "star wars tickets", "star wars refund" and whatever on Twitter, and I have yet to see these screen caps Cappoe is talking about. I'm sure they exist, but a bunch of randos sending out a tweet that probably only has like three likes isn't really some sort of movement or whatever.
  9. Will watch later, but I thought Fandom was going to stop videos until January. That's not a bad thing

  11. THE FORCE WILL BE WITH YOU ALWAYS It’s here. After 42 years of films, cartoons, books, comics, and very recently live-action TV, the epic Skywalker Saga has come to an end. While it may not have always been planned like this, the following movies: -Star Wars -The Empire Strikes Back -Return of the Jedi -The Phantom Menace -Attack of the Clones -Revenge of the Sith -The Force Awakens -The Last Jedi It all led to this finale of epic proportions. Here we will see the fruits of George Lucas, Kathleen Kennedy, J. J. Abrams, and Rian Johnson’s labor deliver something truly massive and powerful for millions of people all over the world. While the movies may not have always hit bullseyes, people still flock to each Star Wars episode, excited to see the world and characters again, as if they were old friends. And now, we have The Rise of Skywalker. The last big film of the year, The Rise of Skywalker is here to wrap up an astonishing year for both the Mouse House and an epic saga 42 years in the making. Sure, we still have plenty more new Star Wars content in the coming years, with the first expected to start in 2022. But for all intents and purposes, as a film that finishes up the story of the Skywalkers, Rey, Finn, Poe, and Palpatine, this is the big finale. This is their ending. This is their send-off. And with such a huge finale, The Rise of Skywalker arguably has the biggest shoes to fill out of any of the movies in the franchise. Not only is this supposed to wrap up eight whole movies in one tight little bow, this movie is also supposed to show if Star Wars fatigue is real or not. After The Last Jedi saw divisive reactions and Solo was a box office bomb, there’s been countless debates over whether the Star Wars brand is dead, and whether or not TROS will pay for these supposed sins, or whether the backlash is nothing but white noise. And after this film has now garnered mixed critical reception, is Star Wars dead forever? It’s probably the biggest question mark of the year, in a year full of question marks. Will it follow in the footsteps of Revenge of the Sith and Return of the Jedi and increase from its predecessor? Or will the force not be with this film, and fatigue is truly set in? Or will it just be an average, nothing special performer? Regardless of what happens, there’s still plenty to be excited about. A saga that spanned dozens of movies, television shows and comics will all come to an end. Characters people know and love like Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, Poe, Rose, and more will see their stories conclude, in something that should hopefully deliver and result in something special. Episode IX is something people have arguably waited on for decades, so let’s hope this truly ends in an epic bang. And now, the boring rules section that people should follow, but never do... 1. ABSOLUTELY NO SPOILERS. NOT EVEN SPOILERS POSTED UNDER SPOILER TAGS. This rule is applied to all weekend threads, but it's especially true for this weekend. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is something people have been waiting for for years, arguably decades. So there are definitely people who don’t want to be spoiled by anything not revealed in the marketing. You are free to give general opinions, but try to avoid going into any further detail. This applies to every other movie in theaters. So no Jumanji spoilers, no Bombshell spoilers, and especially no Cats spoilers. If you do spoil something here, you will be banned. No exceptions. Don't be a dick. If you want to go into more detail, the Spoiler thread is available right here. 2. KEEP YOUR AGENDA OUT OF HERE. We get it. Disney destroyed Star Wars and Rian Johnson/Kathleen Kennedy are evil. Disney saved Star Wars, and Rian Johnson can do no wrong. Disney is pure evil. Disney is bullied too much. James Cameron is the true box office king. Yadda yadda yadda. There's a time and place for these kinds of statements...actually, there isn't. But at the very least, it doesn't belong here. If you want to start these beefs related to all of these dumb children's movies, take it to the Fanboy Wars thread right here. If you do this kind of stuff here, you will be banned. No exceptions. Any sort of funny business, and you’re out of here. So to all the people who want to say, “DISNEY IS EVIL. RIAN JOHNSON IS CANCER. STAR WARS IS DEAD”, don’t even fucking try. Not gonna name names, but you know who you are. Don't be a dick. 3. NO CONSPIRACY THEORIES. It seems like every other week, we have some sort of conspiracy, usually involving critics being bribed or “biased” or out to get a studio or filmmaker or whatever. Yeah, no. We're not gonna have this stuff here. I don't care what evidence you have. These types of posts are going to derail the thread and are basically trolling. We'll allow maybe one or two posts about a potential discrepancy between audiences or critics, or you saying you didn't like the movie or that the crowd you were with weren't into the film, or you arguing there's potential for a bad second weekend drop. But if you start repeating yourself, or said posts are inflammatory, or you start promoting the idea that there's some sort of evil conspiracy going around...you will be banned. No exceptions. Again, not naming names, but you know who you are. Don't be a dick. 4. NO POLITICS. In threads like these, politics sometimes spring up for literally no reason. This is especially true for a trilogy like this that has focused heavily on politics and “PCness”. You can think whatever you want to think, but don’t come after people for their personal opinions on these issues. If people like the movie or the direction Star Wars is going, great! If people don’t, also great! But going after people for political reasons all for what they thought about a children’s movie is super uncool. This is supposed to be a movie forum where people can talk about the box office and movies without getting hounded by other people. If you can’t do that, you will be banned. No exceptions. Don’t be a dick. 5. THE REPORT AND IGNORE BUTTONS ARE YOUR FRIENDS. See a post that might be breaking the rules? DO NOT RESPOND TO IT. Just hit the Report button, give an explanation to the problem, including the context, then hit "Submit". The mods will determine the post and see if it's breaking the rules, and give out repercussions. See a poster that's consistently being annoying? Then just highlight their name, then click "Ignore User" on the pop-up. Also check the “Quotes” box just in case. It'll save lives and hopefully cause less of an uproar or infighting. While trolls are already bad, responding to them only makes it worse. So again...Don't be a dick. 6. IS OFF-TOPIC DISCUSSION OKAY? Well...yes and no. We want people to stick to box office numbers as best as they can. However, there are plenty of dead periods of time with no new numbers, and other discussions will surge. This is especially true in the early days of this thread, where there aren’t any numbers to talk about. And those discussions are okay to have, so long as the off topic discussions don't go overboard. So if there's no action, and you want to share some new recipes you found, or talk about what you think Dwanta Claus will give you for Christmas, or discuss the value of New Year’s Resolutions, that's totally fine. Just remember to not talk about anything controversial and remember that when the numbers come to keep those discussions down to a minimum. Keep on doing that, and it becomes a chore for many who just want to know the numbers. We will have a post immediately after this one that will focus on just the numbers updated to the most recent estimates, but the phrase still applies. Don't. Be. A. Dick. And lastly... 7. DON'T BE A DICK. Threads lately have started to become a little too toxic. Whatever the reason may be, if you're not following any of these rules or are straight up not being nice, you're going to get the banhammer smashed onto you. Doing some concern trolling to a movie? Banned. Revealing that Rey kills Dumbledore? Banned. Trying to start arguments on controversial topics? Banned. Just posting something unpleasant or mean? Banned. If you're not sure if your post is nice, think to yourself this: "If I post this, will people get mad?" If so, then don't post it. And if you're unsure if you can handle being nice for one weekend, then, simply put, get out of here. You probably know what I'm gonna say next. TL;DR. No spoilers, no fanboy wars. Keep it nice, keep it neutral, don't attack others, and you'll be fine. If you don't do this stuff, you'll risk a threadban, a suspension, or even a permanent ban, so tread lightly. Outside of that, just have fun! And two last things... First of all, this thread will likely lean into being more domestic-focused. If you want to know about how TROS is doing in other countries, look at the International section of the forums right here. The international thread solely dedicated to TROS is also available right here. And second.... WE’RE HAVING A SALE 50% off one month of Gold 50% off one month of Premium 20% off one year of Gold 20% off one year of Premium And now... WITHOUT FURTHER ADO LET’S DO THIS SHIT
  12. The footage you had was recorded from a theater and was not intended to be shown online yet. That's pirated content. When the trailer gets uploaded on Warner Bros.' YouTube channel and places like Fandango MovieClips, then it's fair game to post.
